1	Die dritte Rede des Elihu Elihu ergriff noch einmal das Wort und sagte:	Elihu spake moreover, and said,
2	Hast du denn gedacht, du hättest recht, als du gesagt hast: »Dies ist meine Gerechtigkeit vor Gott!«	Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
3	Denn du fragst dich ja: »Was habe ich davon? Was nützt es schon, ohne Sünde zu leben?«	For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
4	Auf diese Frage will ich dir Antwort geben und zugleich auch deinen Freunden.	I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
5	Schau doch zum Himmel hinauf und sieh! Betrachte die Wolken, die hoch über dir sind!	Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
6	Wenn du eine Sünde begehst, kannst du denn Gott damit etwas anhaben? Und wenn du viele weitere Verbrechen begehst, kannst du ihm damit wirklich Schaden zufügen?	If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7	Oder umgekehrt: Wenn du gerecht handelst, kannst du ihm damit etwas Gutes tun? Was könnte Gott wohl aus deiner Hand empfangen?	If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
8	Es ist doch vielmehr so: Dein Unrechttun schadet nur deinen Mitmenschen. Handelst du aber gerecht, hilft es ihnen.	Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
9	Wächst nun die Zahl der Unterdrücker, gibt es ein großes Geschrei. Gehen die Machthaber mit Gewalt vor, ruft man verzweifelt um Hilfe.	By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10	Doch es gibt keinen, der fragt: »Wo ist Gott, der mich geschaffen hat, der mir Kraft gibt in der Nacht?	But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11	Er hat uns mehr gelehrt als die Tiere auf der Erde, uns klüger gemacht als die Vögel am Himmel.«	Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12	Stattdessen schreien sie, doch er antwortet nicht. Denn er kennt den Hochmut böser Leute.	There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13	Haltloses Gerede ist das, Gott hört es nicht. Der Allmächtige beachtet es nicht weiter.	Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14	Es ändert nichts daran, wenn du sagst, dass du sein Urteil nicht erahnen kannst. Er hat’s beschlossen und du musst darauf warten.	Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
15	Wozu willst du jetzt noch immer behaupten: Gottes Zorn verfolgt die Täter nicht, und um Verbrechen kümmert er sich nicht?	But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
16	So sinnlos reißt Hiob seinen Mund auf. Er macht viele Worte, ganz ohne Verstand.	Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
