1	Gerichtsworte gegen die Philister / Über die Küstenbewohner wird Krieg hereinbrechen Es folgt eine Botschaft für die Philister. Der Prophet Jeremia erhielt sie, bevor der Pharao Gaza eroberte. Damals kam dieses Wort des Herrn zu Jeremia:	The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before that Pharaoh smote Gaza.
2	So spricht der Herr: Seht her! Aus dem Norden rauscht Wasser heran und wird zu einem reißenden Strom. Es überflutet das Land und alles, was darin ist: die Städte und ihre Bewohner. Die Menschen schreien und alle im Land klagen.	Thus saith the Lord; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.
3	Denn die Hufe der Schlachtrosse donnern, die Streitwagen dröhnen und ihre Räder poltern. Selbst Eltern schauen sich nicht mehr um, wo ihre Kinder bleiben – so mutlos und verzweifelt sind sie.	At the noise of the stamping of the hoofs of his strong horses, at the rushing of his chariots, and at the rumbling of his wheels, the fathers shall not look back to their children for feebleness of hands;
4	Denn der Tag kommt, an dem alle Philister ausgelöscht werden. Wer überlebt hat und Tyros und Sidon verteidigen will, wird sterben. Denn der Herr löscht die Philister aus, er bringt dem Rest der Insel Kaftor den Tod.	Because of the day that cometh to spoil all the Philistines, and to cut off from Tyrus and Zidon every helper that remaineth: for the Lord will spoil the Philistines, the remnant of the country of Caphtor.
5	Auch Gaza und Aschkelon wird es treffen Gaza trägt Trauer, seine Bewohner haben sich den Kopf kahl geschoren. In Aschkelon herrscht Totenstille, auch im Rest des Landes, entlang der Küste. Du Land der Philister, wie lange willst du dir selbst Schnittwunden zufügen?	Baldness is come upon Gaza; Ashkelon is cut off with the remnant of their valley: how long wilt thou cut thyself?
6	O du Schwert des Herrn, wann hörst du endlich auf zu wüten? Kehre zurück in deine Scheide! Hör endlich auf und halte ein! –	O thou sword of the Lord, how long will it be ere thou be quiet? put up thyself into thy scabbard, rest, and be still.
7	Wie kann es denn aufhören? Der Herr hat ihm doch befohlen, in Aschkelon und im Gebiet am Meer zu wüten! Dorthin hat er es bestellt.	How can it be quiet, seeing the Lord hath given it a charge against Ashkelon, and against the sea shore? there hath he appointed it.
