1	Berufung und erste Verkündigung Jeremias / Jeremia wird Gottes Prophet / Überschrift des Prophetenbuchs In diesem Buch stehen Worte des Jeremia. Sein Vater war Hilkija und stammte aus einer Familie, aus der die Priester von Anatot im Land Benjamin kamen.	The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
2	Das Wort des Herrn kam zu Jeremia im dreizehnten Regierungsjahr König Joschijas von Juda. Joschija war ein Sohn Amons.	To whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.
3	Auch während der Regierungszeit seiner Söhne kam das Wort des Herrn weiter zu Jeremia: zuerst unter König Jojakim von Juda und bis zum Ende der Regierungszeit Zidkijas von Juda. Zidkijas Regierungszeit endete nach elf Jahren – genau im fünften Monat, als Jerusalem in die Verbannung geführt wurde.	It came also in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah the son of Josiah king of Judah, unto the carrying away of Jerusalem captive in the fifth month.
4	Jeremia wird zum Propheten berufen Da kam das Wort des Herrn zu mir:	Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
5	»Bevor ich dich im Mutterleib geformt habe, kannte ich dich. Bevor du von deiner Mutter geboren wurdest, warst du schon heilig für mich. Zum Propheten für die Völker habe ich dich bestimmt.«	Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
6	Ich antwortete: »Ach, mein Gott und Herr, ich kann nicht gut reden! Denn ich bin noch zu jung.«	Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.
7	Doch der Herr erwiderte: »Sag nicht, dass du zu jung bist, sondern geh, wohin ich dich sende! Und verkünde alles, was ich dir auftrage!	But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.
8	Fürchte dich nicht vor ihnen, denn ich bin mit dir und werde dich retten!« – So lautet der Ausspruch des Herrn.	Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.
9	Dann streckte der Herr seine Hand aus und berührte meinen Mund. Der Herr sagte zu mir: »Ich lege meine Worte in deinen Mund.	Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.
10	Sieh her: Ich gebe dir heute einen Auftrag. Über Völker und Königreiche stelle ich dich. Du sollst ausreißen und einreißen, zerstören und vernichten, aber auch aufbauen und pflanzen.«	See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
11	Die Visionen vom Mandelzweig und vom Kessel Ein weiteres Wort des Herrn kam zu mir. Er fragte mich: »Was siehst du, Jeremia?« Ich antwortete: »Ich sehe einen Mandelzweig.«	Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
12	Da sagte der Herr zu mir: »Du hast richtig gesehen. Denn ich selbst wache über mein Wort, sodass geschehen wird, was ich dir sage.«	Then said the Lord unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
13	Das Wort des Herrn kam noch einmal zu mir. Er fragte mich: »Was siehst du?« Ich antwortete: »Ich sehe einen dampfenden Kessel. Er neigt sich bedrohlich von Norden her.«	And the word of the Lord came unto me the second time, saying, What seest thou? And I said, I see a seething pot; and the face thereof is toward the north.
14	Da sagte der Herr zu mir: »Von Norden her wird das Unheil kommen. Es wird sich über alle Bewohner des Landes ergießen.	Then the Lord said unto me, Out of the north an evil shall break forth upon all the inhabitants of the land.
15	Denn ich rufe die Königreiche des Nordens mit all ihren Völkern. Daraufhin werden sie kommen. Ein jeder wird seinen Thron aufstellen vor den Toren Jerusalems und entlang der Stadtmauer. Auch alle Städte Judas werden sie belagern. – Ausspruch des Herrn –	For, lo, I will call all the families of the kingdoms of the north, saith the Lord; and they shall come, and they shall set every one his throne at the entering of the gates of Jerusalem, and against all the walls thereof round about, and against all the cities of Judah.
16	Dann spreche ich mein Urteil über die Leute von Juda, weil sie so viel Böses getan haben: Sie haben mich verlassen und anderen Göttern Räucheropfer dargebracht. Sie haben Götzenbilder angebetet, die sie selbst gemacht haben!«	And I will utter my judgments against them touching all their wickedness, who have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, and worshipped the works of their own hands.
17	Jeremias Auftrag und Stärke »Du aber, mach dich bereit und tritt vor! Sag ihnen alles, was ich dir auftrage! Hab keine Angst vor ihnen – sonst werde ich dir Angst vor ihnen einjagen!	Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
18	Ich werde dir heute Kraft geben: Du wirst wie eine befestigte Stadt sein, eine Säule aus Eisen, eine Mauer aus Bronze. So wirst du ganz Juda widerstehen können: den Königen des Landes, den hohen Beamten, den Priestern und dem ganzen Volk auf dem Land.	For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19	Sie werden gegen dich kämpfen, aber dich nicht bezwingen können. Denn ich bin mit dir und werde dich retten.« – So lautet der Ausspruch des Herrn.	And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.
