1	Gott bestätigt David als König Hiram, der König von Tyros, schickte David einen Bautrupp mit Zedernholz. Auch Maurer und Zimmerleute waren dabei, um ihm einen Palast zu bauen.	Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars, with masons and carpenters, to build him an house.
2	Daran erkannte David, dass der Herr ihn als König über Israel bestätigt hatte. Seine Herrschaft genoss sehr großes Ansehen wegen seines Volkes Israel.	And David perceived that the Lord had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.
3	In Jerusalem nahm sich David noch weitere Frauen und hatte noch mehrere Söhne und Töchter.	And David took more wives at Jerusalem: and David begat more sons and daughters.
4	Und das waren die Namen der Söhne, die er in Jerusalem bekam: Schammua, Schobab, Natan, Salomo,	Now these are the names of his children which he had in Jerusalem; Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
5	Jibhar, Elischua, Elpelet,	And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,
6	Nogah, Nefeg, Jafia,	And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,
7	Elischama, Beeljada und Elifelet.	And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.
8	Mit Gottes Hilfe besiegt David die Philister Die Philister hörten davon, dass David zum König über ganz Israel gesalbt worden war. Da zogen alle Philister heran, um David in ihre Gewalt zu bringen. David erfuhr davon und zog ihnen entgegen.	And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it, and went out against them.
9	Die Philister marschierten los und plünderten die Ebene Refaim.	And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.
10	Da befragte David Gott: »Soll ich die Philister angreifen? Wirst du sie in meine Gewalt geben?« Der Herr antwortete ihm: »Zieh los, ich will sie in deine Gewalt geben!«	And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the Lord said unto him, Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.
11	Also zogen sie los nach Baal-Perazim. Dort besiegte David die Philister. Er sagte: »Gott ist durch mich in die Reihen meiner Feinde eingebrochen, so wie Wasser einen Damm durchbricht.« Deshalb nannte man den Ort Baal-Perazim, das heißt: Herr der Durchbrüche.	So they came up to Baal–perazim; and David smote them there. Then David said, God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters: therefore they called the name of that place Baal–perazim.
12	Bei der Flucht ließen die Philister Statuen ihrer Götter zurück. David befahl, sie zu verbrennen.	And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.
13	Aber die Philister fielen noch einmal in die Ebene ein.	And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.
14	David befragte wieder Gott. Gott antwortete ihm: »Nein, du darfst sie nicht sofort angreifen! Geh um sie herum, dann komm auf sie zu von den Baka-Sträuchern her!	Therefore David enquired again of God; and God said unto him, Go not up after them; turn away from them, and come upon them over against the mulberry trees.
15	Sobald du in den Spitzen der Baka-Sträucher ein Geräusch wie von Schritten hörst, sollst du zum Angriff übergehen. Denn Gott zieht vor dir her, um das Heer der Philister zu schlagen.«	And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.
16	David machte es so, wie Gott es befohlen hatte. Er schlug das Heer der Philister in dem Gebiet von Gibeon bis Geser.	David therefore did as God commanded him: and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gazer.
17	So wurde Davids Name in allen Ländern bekannt. Der Herr flößte allen Völkern Angst vor David ein.	And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations.
