1	Amos und seine Visionen / Die erste Vision Gott, der Herr, ließ mich eine Vision sehen: Ich sah, wie er einen Heuschreckenschwarm bildete, gerade als die Spätsaat aufzugehen begann. – Die Spätsaat wächst ja im Frühsommer, nachdem das Gras für den König gemäht worden ist. –	Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings.
2	Doch die Heuschrecken fielen über das Land her und begannen, die jungen Pflanzen abzufressen. Da rief ich: »Herr, mein Gott, vergib! Wie soll Jakob überleben? Er ist doch so schwach.«	And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
3	Da bereute der Herr, was er vorhatte. »Es soll nicht geschehen!«, sagte der Herr.	The Lord repented for this: It shall not be, saith the Lord.
4	Die zweite Vision Gott, der Herr, ließ mich eine Vision sehen: Ich sah, wie Gott, der Herr, eine Gluthitze herbeirief. Die verzehrte das Grundwasser in der Tiefe und war dabei, das Ackerland zu vertilgen.	Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord God called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
5	Da rief ich: »Herr, mein Gott, lass ab! Wie soll Jakob überleben? Er ist doch so schwach.«	Then said I, O Lord God, cease, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
6	Da bereute der Herr, was er vorhatte. »Auch das soll nicht geschehen!«, sagte der Herr.	The Lord repented for this: This also shall not be, saith the Lord God.
7	Die dritte Vision Er ließ mich eine Vision sehen: Ich sah den Herrn auf einer Mauer aus Zinn stehen. Und in seiner Hand hielt er Zinn.	Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand.
8	Der Herr sprach zu mir: »Was siehst du, Amos?« Ich antwortete: »Zinn!« Da sprach der Herr: »Ich werde Waffen ins Land bringen, die mit Zinn gehärtet sind. Die sollen unter meinem Volk wüten. Ich werde Israel nicht noch einmal verschonen!	And the Lord said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more:
9	Dann wird man Isaaks Kultplätze verwüsten und Israels Heiligtümer zerstören. Dem Haus Jerobeam aber will ich mit dem Schwert entgegentreten.«	And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.
10	Amos wird weggeschickt Amazja, der Priester von Bet-El, sandte eine Botschaft an Jerobeam, den König von Israel: »Amos zettelt einen Aufstand gegen dich an. Mitten in Israel führt er unerträgliche Reden. Das hält das Land nicht länger aus!	Then Amaziah the priest of Beth–el sent to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, Amos hath conspired against thee in the midst of the house of Israel: the land is not able to bear all his words.
11	Denn Amos hat folgende Aussage gemacht: ›Jerobeam wird durch das Schwert umkommen, und Israel wird aus seinem Land weggeführt.‹«	For thus Amos saith, Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be led away captive out of their own land.
12	Zu Amos aber sagte Amazja: »Verschwinde von hier, Seher! Geh nach Juda! Dort magst du dir dein Brot verdienen, wenn du weiter als Prophet auftreten willst.	Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there:
13	Aber in Bet-El darfst du nicht mehr auftreten. Denn das hier ist ein königliches Heiligtum. Es ist ein Staatstempel!«	But prophesy not again any more at Beth–el: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.
14	Da antwortete Amos und sagte zu Amazja: »Ich bin kein Prophet! Ich bin auch kein Schüler eines Propheten! Ich habe Rinder und züchte Maulbeerfeigen.	Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
15	Doch der Herr hat mich von der Herde weggeholt. Der Herr hat zu mir gesagt: ›Geh nach Israel! Dort sollst du als Prophet gegen mein Volk auftreten!‹	And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.
16	Und jetzt hör das Wort des Herrn! Es richtet sich gegen dich, weil du zu mir gesagt hast: ›Du darfst nicht als Prophet gegen Israel auftreten und nicht gegen die Nachkommen Isaaks weissagen!‹	Now therefore hear thou the word of the Lord: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac.
17	Darum, so spricht der Herr: Deine Frau wird in der Stadt zur Hure werden. Deine Söhne und Töchter fallen durch das Schwert. Dein Ackerland wird mit der Messschnur verteilt, und du selbst sollst in einem unreinen Land sterben. Israel aber wird aus seinem Land weggeführt.«	Therefore thus saith the Lord; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.
