1	Gottes Gericht über die Völker / Buchüberschrift In diesem Buch stehen Worte des Amos. Er war Schafzüchter und stammte aus Tekoa. Was er verkündet hat, sah er in Visionen über die Zukunft Israels. Zu seiner Zeit war Usija König von Juda und Jerobeam, der Sohn des Joasch, König von Israel. Die Visionen hatte Amos zwei Jahre vor dem Erdbeben.	The words of Amos, who was among the herdmen of Tekoa, which he saw concerning Israel in the days of Uzziah king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel, two years before the earthquake.
2	Er sagte: »Der Herr brüllt vom Zion her, und aus Jerusalem donnert seine Stimme. Das Weideland der Hirten verfällt in Trauer, und die Bergwiesen des Karmel vertrocknen.«	And he said, The Lord will roar from Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the habitations of the shepherds shall mourn, and the top of Carmel shall wither.
3	Die Schuld von Damaskus und Gaza So spricht der Herr: Damaskus hat drei Verbrechen begangen, und vier machen seine Schuld voll. Darum nehme ich mein Gerichtswort nicht zurück. Denn sie haben Dreschschlitten mit Eisenspitzen über das Land Gilead gezogen und es verwüstet.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron:
4	Ich werde den Palast Hasaels in Brand stecken: Feuer soll die Prachtbauten Ben-Hadads fressen!	But I will send a fire into the house of Hazael, which shall devour the palaces of Ben–hadad.
5	Ich werde die Tore von Damaskus aufbrechen und die Bewohner von Bikat-Awen ausrotten. Auch die Herrscher von Bet-Eden vernichte ich. Und die Aramäer werden nach Kir weggeführt. Das hat der Herr gesagt.	I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the Lord.
6	So spricht der Herr: Gaza hat drei Verbrechen begangen, und vier machen seine Schuld voll. Darum nehme ich mein Gerichtswort nicht zurück. Denn sie haben ganze Dörfer verschleppt und ihre Bewohner den Edomitern übergeben.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they carried away captive the whole captivity, to deliver them up to Edom:
7	Ich werde die Mauern von Gaza in Brand stecken: Feuer soll seine Prachtbauten fressen!	But I will send a fire on the wall of Gaza, which shall devour the palaces thereof:
8	Ich werde die Bewohner von Aschdod ausrotten, auch die Herrscher von Aschkelon vernichte ich. Mit Gewalt werde ich gegen Ekron vorgehen, und die übrigen Philister sollen umkommen. Das hat Gott, der Herr, gesagt.	And I will cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod, and him that holdeth the sceptre from Ashkelon, and I will turn mine hand against Ekron: and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, saith the Lord God.
9	Die Schuld von Tyros und Edom So spricht der Herr: Tyros hat drei Verbrechen begangen, und vier machen seine Schuld voll. Darum nehme ich mein Gerichtswort nicht zurück. Denn sie haben ganze Dörfer den Edomitern übergeben und den Vertrag mit Israel nicht beachtet.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyrus, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they delivered up the whole captivity to Edom, and remembered not the brotherly covenant:
10	Ich werde die Mauern von Tyros in Brand stecken: Feuer soll seine Prachtbauten fressen!	But I will send a fire on the wall of Tyrus, which shall devour the palaces thereof.
11	So spricht der Herr: Edom hat drei Verbrechen begangen, und vier machen seine Schuld voll. Darum nehme ich mein Gerichtswort nicht zurück. Denn sie haben ihr Brudervolk mit dem Schwert verfolgt und ohne jedes Mitleid unterdrückt. Sie ließen sich andauernd zum Zorn hinreißen und blieben unversöhnlich in ihrer Wut.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he did pursue his brother with the sword, and did cast off all pity, and his anger did tear perpetually, and he kept his wrath for ever:
12	Ich werde in Teman ein Feuer legen: Das soll die Prachtbauten von Bozra fressen.	But I will send a fire upon Teman, which shall devour the palaces of Bozrah.
13	Die Schuld der Ammoniter und Moabiter So spricht der Herr: Die Ammoniter haben drei Verbrechen begangen, und vier machen ihre Schuld voll. Darum nehme ich mein Gerichtswort nicht zurück. Denn schwangeren Frauen aus Gilead haben sie den Bauch aufgeschlitzt, als sie ihr Gebiet ausdehnen wollten.	Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of the children of Ammon, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have ripped up the women with child of Gilead, that they might enlarge their border:
14	Ich werde die Mauern von Rabba anzünden: Feuer soll seine Prachtbauten fressen! Am Tag der Schlacht bricht Kriegsgeschrei los. Wenn es zum Sturm kommt, donnert und kracht es.	But I will kindle a fire in the wall of Rabbah, and it shall devour the palaces thereof, with shouting in the day of battle, with a tempest in the day of the whirlwind:
15	Dann muss ihr König in die Verbannung gehen, der König zusammen mit den führenden Männern. Das hat der Herr gesagt.	And their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes together, saith the Lord.
