1	Gott schaut vom Himmel herab FÜR DEN CHORLEITER, ZUM KREISTANZ. EIN WEISHEITSLIED, VON DAVID.	The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
2	Dumme Menschen sprechen in ihrem Herzen: »Es gibt keinen Gott!« Sie handeln abscheulich und verkehrt. Es gibt keinen, der etwas Gutes tut.	God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
3	Doch der Herr schaut vom Himmel herab und prüft die Menschenkinder. Er möchte sehen, ob jemand da ist, der Verstand hat und nach Gott fragt.	Every one of them is gone back: they are altogether become filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
4	Doch sie sind alle von Gott abgefallen, allesamt sind sie verdorben. Es ist niemand da, der etwas Gutes tut, auch nicht ein Einziger!	Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
5	Haben denn die Übeltäter kein Einsehen? Sie fressen mein Volk, wie man Brot verschlingt. Aber zu Gott rufen sie nicht!	There were they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered the bones of him that encampeth against thee: thou hast put them to shame, because God hath despised them.
6	Auf der Stelle soll sie ein Schrecken packen – ein Schrecken, wie es noch keinen gegeben hat. Ja, Gott zerstreut die Gebeine der toten Feinde, die dich belagert haben. Schande über sie! Denn Gott verabscheut ihr Tun.	Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When God bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.
7	Wer wird vom Zion kommen und Israel die Befreiung bringen? Wenn Gott das Schicksal seines Volkes zum Guten wendet, wird Jakob jubeln, Israel sich freuen.	—
