1	Hilferuf der Armen Warum bleibst du in der Ferne, Herr? Warum verschließt du deine Augen in Zeiten der Not?	Why standest thou afar off, O Lord? why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble?
2	Voller Hochmut geht der Frevler vor, mit Leidenschaft verfolgt er den Armen. Er schnappt ihn mit List und Tücke, wie er es sich ausgedacht hat.	The wicked in his pride doth persecute the poor: let them be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
3	Der Frevler brüstet sich mit seiner Habgier. Er segnet seinen unrechtmäßigen Gewinn und verhöhnt auch noch den Herrn.	For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the Lord abhorreth.
4	Hochnäsig, wie der Frevler ist, sagt er: »Er straft doch nicht! Also gibt es keinen Gott!« So sind alle seine Gedanken.	The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.
5	Sein Weg führt immer zum Erfolg. Fern im Himmel werden deine Urteile gefällt. Darum meint er, sie betreffen ihn nicht. Gegen alle Widersacher läuft er Sturm.	His ways are always grievous; thy judgments are far above out of his sight: as for all his enemies, he puffeth at them.
6	Dabei denkt er in seinem Herzen: »Ich werde ganz bestimmt nicht wanken. Nie und nimmer wird mich ein Unglück treffen.« Verflucht soll er sein!	He hath said in his heart, I shall not be moved: for I shall never be in adversity.
7	Sein Mund ist voll Betrug und Erpressung. Leid und Unheil lauern unter seiner Zunge.	His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.
8	In Hinterhöfen legt er sich auf die Lauer. Im Verborgenen tötet er den Unschuldigen. Seine Augen halten Ausschau nach dem Schwachen.	He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.
9	Er lauert im Versteck wie ein Löwe im Busch. Er lauert nur darauf, den Armen zu packen. Er schnappt den Armen, zieht ihn in sein Netz.	He lieth in wait secretly as a lion in his den: he lieth in wait to catch the poor: he doth catch the poor, when he draweth him into his net.
10	Er schlägt zu, beugt sich über sein Opfer. Die Schwachen fallen durch seine Pranken.	He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.
11	Dabei denkt er in seinem Herzen nur: »Auch das hat Gott bereits vergessen! Er hat ja sein Gesicht bedeckt, die ganze Zeit schon nichts gesehen!«	He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.
12	Steh auf, Herr! Greif ein, Gott! Vergiss die Armen nicht!	Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.
13	Warum darf der Frevler Gott verhöhnen? Wie kann er behaupten, dass du nicht strafst?	Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? he hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it.
14	Du hast das Elend und Leid doch gesehen! Jetzt nimm die Sache selbst in deine Hand! Der Schwache kann sich auf dich verlassen. Dem Waisenkind bist du ein Helfer gewesen.	Thou hast seen it; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: the poor committeth himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless.
15	Brich die Macht des Frevlers und des Bösen! Verfolge das Unrecht, das er begangen hat, bis du nichts mehr davon findest.	Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man: seek out his wickedness till thou find none.
16	Der Herr ist König für immer und alle Zeit! Verschwunden sind die Völker aus seinem Land.	The Lord is King for ever and ever: the heathen are perished out of his land.
17	Du hast gehört, Herr, wonach die Unterdrückten sich sehnen. Mach ihnen Mut! Öffne dein Ohr für sie!	Lord, thou hast heard the desire of the humble: thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear:
18	So hilfst du den Waisen und Benachteiligten, dass sie zu ihrem Recht kommen. Niemals wieder sollen Menschen auf der Erde Angst und Schrecken verbreiten.	To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of the earth may no more oppress.
