1	Dann stand David auf und ging fort. Jonatan aber kehrte in die Stadt zurück.	Then came David to Nob to Ahimelech the priest: and Ahimelech was afraid at the meeting of David, and said unto him, Why art thou alone, and no man with thee?
2	David auf der Flucht vor Saul / David wird Anführer einer eigenen Truppe / David beim Priester Ahimelech David kam zum Priester Ahimelech nach Nob. Das machte Ahimelech Angst. Er ging David entgegen und fragte ihn: »Warum bist du allein und hast niemanden bei dir?«	And David said unto Ahimelech the priest, The king hath commanded me a business, and hath said unto me, Let no man know any thing of the business whereabout I send thee, and what I have commanded thee: and I have appointed my servants to such and such a place.
3	David antwortete dem Priester Ahimelech: »Der König hat es so befohlen und zu mir gesagt: ›Der Auftrag, den ich dir gebe, ist streng geheim. Niemand darf etwas von deiner Mission erfahren.‹ Deshalb habe ich auch mit meinen Leuten verabredet, dass wir uns an einem geheimen Ort treffen.	Now therefore what is under thine hand? give me five loaves of bread in mine hand, or what there is present.
4	Jetzt aber: Hast du etwas zum Essen da? Vielleicht fünf Brote? Dann gib sie mir! Oder hast du sonst noch etwas zur Hand?«	And the priest answered David, and said, There is no common bread under mine hand, but there is hallowed bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women.
5	Der Priester antwortete David: »Ich habe leider kein normales Brot zur Hand. Nur heiliges Brot ist noch da. Doch das kann ich deinen Leuten nur geben, wenn sie sich von Frauen ferngehalten haben.«	And David answered the priest, and said unto him, Of a truth women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the bread is in a manner common, yea, though it were sanctified this day in the vessel.
6	Daraufhin sagte David zu dem Priester: »Wir sind mit keinen Frauen in Berührung gekommen, seit wir unterwegs sind – gestern nicht und vorgestern nicht! Auch haben meine Leute dafür gesorgt, dass ihre Ausrüstung heilig ist. Wir führen zwar nur einen normalen Auftrag aus, aber auf alle Fälle ist unsere Ausrüstung heilig.«	So the priest gave him hallowed bread: for there was no bread there but the shewbread, that was taken from before the Lord, to put hot bread in the day when it was taken away.
7	Da gab ihnen der Priester das heilige Brot. Es war nämlich kein anderes Brot vorhanden außer den Schaubroten im Heiligtum. Es wird immer wieder vom Tisch des Herrn genommen. Und an dem Tag, an dem es abgeräumt wird, wird es durch frisches Brot ersetzt.	Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the Lord; and his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chiefest of the herdmen that belonged to Saul.
8	An jenem Tag hielt sich dort auch ein Mann auf, der zu den Leuten Sauls gehörte. Er war an diesem Tag ins Heiligtum gekommen, um beim Herrn zu sein. Es war der Edomiter Doeg, der am Hof Sauls eine hohe Stellung einnahm.	And David said unto Ahimelech, And is there not here under thine hand spear or sword? for I have neither brought my sword nor my weapons with me, because the king’s business required haste.
9	David fragte Ahimelech weiter: »Hast du eine Waffe für mich, vielleicht einen Speer oder ein Schwert? Denn ich habe keine Zeit gehabt, mein Schwert und meine Ausrüstung mitzunehmen. So dringend war der Auftrag des Königs.«	And the priest said, The sword of Goliath the Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod: if thou wilt take that, take it: for there is no other save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
10	Der Priester sagte darauf: »Hier ist das Schwert des Philisters Goliat, den du im Terebinthen-Tal erschlagen hast. Schau, es liegt eingewickelt in einem Mantel dort hinter dem Kasten. Wenn du es haben willst, dann nimm es! Denn eine andere Waffe gibt es hier nicht.« David sagte: »Her damit! Ein besseres Schwert gibt es nicht!«	And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath.
11	David flieht zum König Achisch nach Gat David machte sich sofort auf den Weg und setzte seine Flucht vor Saul fort. Er kam zu Achisch, dem Philisterkönig von Gat.	And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?
12	Da sagten die Leute, die Achisch dienten: »Ist das nicht David, der König des Nachbarlandes? Ja, das ist er doch, von dem man beim Tanz singt: Saul hat tausend erschlagen, David aber zehntausend!«	And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.
13	Das Gerede erschien David allerdings sehr bedenklich. Er bekam furchtbare Angst vor Achisch, dem König von Gat.	And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.
14	Da tat er so, als ob er geisteskrank wäre. Ja, er führte sich unter ihnen auf wie ein Verrückter, kritzelte dummes Zeug auf die Flügel des Stadttors und ließ den Speichel in seinen Bart laufen.	Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me?
15	Achisch aber sagte zu seinen Leuten: »Da seht ihr es! Der ist doch vollkommen verrückt! Warum bringt ihr gerade den zu mir?	Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?
16	Hab ich nicht schon genug Verrückte um mich, dass ihr mir auch noch den anschleppen müsst? Warum soll der bei mir verrückt spielen? So einer kommt mir nicht ins Haus!«	—
