2	Abraham war der Vater von Isaak, Isaak von Jakob, Jakob von Juda und seinen Brüdern.	Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
3	Juda war der Vater von Perez und Serach – ihre Mutter war Tamar –, Perez von Hezron, Hezron von Ram.	And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;

14	Azor von Zadok, Zadok von Achim, Achim von Eliud,	And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
15	Eliud von Eleasar, Eleasar von Mattan, Mattan von Jakob,	And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
16	Jakob von Josef. Josef war der Mann von Maria. Maria war die Mutter von Jesus, der Christus genannt wird.	And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17	Alle Generationen zusammen sind: von Abraham bis David vierzehn Generationen, von David bis zur Verbannung nach Babylonien vierzehn Generationen, von der Verbannung nach Babylonien bis zu Christus vierzehn Generationen.	So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18	Jesus wird geboren Zur Geburt von Jesus Christus kam es so: Seine Mutter Maria war mit Josef verlobt. Sie hatten noch nicht miteinander geschlafen. Da stellte sich heraus, dass Maria schwanger war – aus dem Heiligen Geist.	Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19	Ihr Mann Josef lebte nach Gottes Willen, aber er wollte Maria nicht bloßstellen. Deshalb wollte er sich von ihr trennen, ohne Aufsehen zu erregen.	Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20	Dazu war er entschlossen. Doch im Traum erschien ihm ein Engel des Herrn und sagte: »Josef, du Nachkomme Davids, fürchte dich nicht, Maria als deine Frau zu dir zu nehmen. Denn das Kind, das sie erwartet, ist aus dem Heiligen Geist.	But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21	Sie wird einen Sohn zur Welt bringen. Dem sollst du den Namen Jesus geben. Denn er wird sein Volk retten: Er befreit es von aller Schuld.«	And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22	Das alles geschah, damit in Erfüllung ging, was der Herr durch den Propheten gesagt hat:	Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23	»Ihr werdet sehen: Die Jungfrau wird schwanger werden und einen Sohn zur Welt bringen. Dem werden sie den Namen Immanuel geben«, das heißt: Gott ist mit uns.	Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
24	Josef wachte auf und tat, was ihm der Engel des Herrn befohlen hatte: Er nahm seine Frau zu sich.	Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25	Aber er schlief nicht mit Maria, bis sie ihren Sohn zur Welt brachte. Und er gab ihm den Namen Jesus.	And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.
