| 1 | Ora a summa do que temos dito é que temos um summo sacerdote tal, que está assentado nos céus á dextra do throno da magestade, | Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; |
| 2 | Ministro do sanctuario, e verdadeiro tabernaculo, o qual o Senhor fundou, e não o homem. | A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. |
| 3 | Porque todo o summo sacerdote é constituido para offerecer dons e sacrificios; pelo que era necessario que este tambem tivesse alguma coisa que offerecer. | For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. |
| 4 | Porque, se ainda estivesse na terra, nem tão pouco sacerdote seria, havendo ainda sacerdotes que offerecessem dons segundo a lei, | For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: |
| 5 | Os quaes servem de exemplar e sombra das coisas celestiaes, como Moysés divinamente foi avisado, estando já para acabar o tabernaculo: porque, Olha, disse, faze tudo conforme o modelo que no monte se te mostrou. | Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. |
| 6 | Mas agora alcançou ministerio tanto mais excellente, quanto é mediador d'um melhor concerto, o qual está confirmado em melhores promessas. | But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. |
| 7 | Porque, se aquelle primeiro fôra irreprehensivel, nunca se teria buscado logar para o segundo. | For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. |
| 8 | Porque, reprehendendo-os, lhes diz: Eis que virão dias, diz o Senhor, em que com a casa de Israel e com a casa de Judah estabelecerei um novo concerto, | For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: |
| 9 | Não segundo o concerto que fiz com seus paes no dia em que os tomei pela mão, para os tirar da terra do Egypto; porque não permaneceram n'aquelle meu concerto, e eu para elles não attentei, diz o Senhor. | Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. |
| 10 | Porque este é o concerto que depois d'aquelles dias farei com a casa de Israel, diz o Senhor; porei as minhas leis no seu entendimento, e em seu coração as escreverei: e eu lhes serei por Deus, e elles me serão por povo: | For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: |
| 11 | E não ensinará cada um ao seu proximo, nem cada um ao seu irmão, dizendo: Conhece o Senhor; porque todos me conhecerão, desde o menor d'elles até ao maior. | And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest. |
| 12 | Porque serei misericordioso para com suas injustiças, e de seus peccados e de suas prevaricações não me lembrarei mais. | For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. |
| 13 | Dizendo Novo, envelheceu o primeiro. Ora, o que foi tornado velho, e se envelhece, perto está de se esvaecer. | In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. |
