| 3 | The sea hath seen, and fleeth, The Jordan turneth backward. | The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back. |
| 4 | The mountains have skipped as rams, Heights as sons of a flock. | The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs. |
| 5 | What--to thee, O sea, that thou fleest? O Jordan, thou turnest back! | What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back? |
