| 절 | Weymouth NT | King James Version |
|---|---|---|
I exhort then, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men; | I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
including kings and all who are in high station, in order that we may live peaceful and tranquil lives with all godliness and gravity. | For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
This is right, and is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour, | For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
who is willing for all mankind to be saved and come to a full knowledge of the truth. | Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is but one God and but one Mediator between God and men--Christ Jesus, Himself man; | For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
who gave Himself as the redemption price for all--a fact testified to at its own appointed time, | Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.
and of which I have been appointed a herald and an Apostle (I am speaking the truth: it is not a fiction), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth. | Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.
So then I would have the men everywhere pray, lifting to God holy hands which are unstained with anger or strife; | I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
and I would have the women dress becomingly, with modesty and self-control, not with plaited hair or gold or pearls or costly clothes, | In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
but--as befits women making a claim to godliness--with the ornament of good works. | But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
A woman should quietly learn from others with entire submissiveness. | Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
I do not permit a woman to teach, nor have authority over a man, but she must remain silent. | But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
For Adam was formed first, and then Eve; | For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
and Adam was not deceived, but his wife was thoroughly deceived, and so became involved in transgression. | And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
Yet a woman will be brought safely through childbirth if she and her husband continue to live in faith and love and growing holiness, with habitual self-restraint. | Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
