| 2 | Notus in Judæa Deus ; in Israël magnum nomen ejus. | When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. |
| 3 | Et factus est in pace locus ejus, et habitatio ejus in Sion. | The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. |
| 4 | Ibi confregit potentias arcuum, scutum, gladium, et bellum. | I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn: |
| 5 | Illuminans tu mirabiliter a montibus æternis ; | Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck. |
| 6 | turbati sunt omnes insipientes corde. Dormierunt somnum suum, et nihil invenerunt omnes viri divitiarum in manibus suis. | For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. |
| 7 | Ab increpatione tua, Deus Jacob, dormitaverunt qui ascenderunt equos. | But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another. |
