|---|---|---|
Ipsi David. Benedic, anima mea, Domino : Domine Deus meus, magnificatus es vehementer. Confessionem et decorem induisti, | Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
amictus lumine sicut vestimento. Extendens cælum sicut pellem, | Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
qui tegis aquis superiora ejus : qui ponis nubem ascensum tuum ; qui ambulas super pennas ventorum : | Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
qui facis angelos tuos spiritus, et ministros tuos ignem urentem. | Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
| Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Abyssus sicut vestimentum amictus ejus ; super montes stabunt aquæ. | The Lord executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
Ab increpatione tua fugient ; a voce tonitrui tui formidabunt. | He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
Ascendunt montes, et descendunt campi, in locum quem fundasti eis. | The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.
| He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever.
| He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
Potabunt omnes bestiæ agri ; expectabunt onagri in siti sua. | For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.
Super ea volucres cæli habitabunt ; de medio petrarum dabunt voces. | As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
Rigans montes de superioribus suis ; de fructu operum tuorum satiabitur terra : | Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
producens fœnum jumentis, et herbam servituti hominum, ut educas panem de terra, | For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.
| As for man, his days are as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth.
Saturabuntur ligna campi, et cedri Libani quas plantavit : | For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
illic passeres nidificabunt : herodii domus dux est eorum. | But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;
Montes excelsi cervis ; petra refugium herinaciis. | To such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
Fecit lunam in tempora ; sol cognovit occasum suum. | The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth over all.
Posuisti tenebras, et facta est nox ; in ipsa pertransibunt omnes bestiæ silvæ : | Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.
catuli leonum rugientes ut rapiant, et quærant a Deo escam sibi. | Bless ye the Lord, all ye his hosts; ye ministers of his, that do his pleasure.
| Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, O my soul.
Illic naves pertransibunt ; draco iste quem formasti ad illudendum ei. | —
Omnia a te expectant ut des illis escam in tempore. | —
Dante te illis, colligent ; aperiente te manum tuam, omnia implebuntur bonitate. | —
Emittes spiritum tuum, et creabuntur, et renovabis faciem terræ. | —
Sit gloria Domini in sæculum ; lætabitur Dominus in operibus suis. | —
Cantabo Domino in vita mea ; psallam Deo meo quamdiu sum. | —
Jucundum sit ei eloquium meum ; ego vero delectabor in Domino. | —
Benedic, anima mea, Domino. | —
