And she constrained us. |

Maradika-na mporata wori' doi ngkai pobago-na toe. | And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying: |

Palai-na mpu'u-mi-hawo anitu toei. | And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. |

| 21 | Mpotudui' -ra tauna mpotuku' ada to mosisala hante ada-ta. Kita' to Roma, uma-ta ma'ala mpotarima ba mpotuku' ada to hewa toe." | And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans. |
| 22 | Ntodea wo'o-hawo medulu mepakilu. Jadi', topoparenta toera mpehubui bona pohea-ra Paulus pai' Silas raroncu ngkai woto-ra pai' -ra raweba'. | And the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them. |

| 31 | Ra'uli' Paulus pai' Silas: "Mepangala' -moko hi Pue' Yesus, tebahaka moto-ko mpai' ngkai huku' jeko' -nu, iko pai' tauna to hi rala tomi-nu." | And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. |
| 32 | Ngkai ree, Paulus pai' Silas mpoparata Lolita Pue' hi kapala' tarungku' toei, pai' hi hawe'ea tauna to hi rala tomi-na. | And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. |
| 33 | Jadi', nto'u toe kapala' tarungku' mpokeni-ra hilou hi mali-na, pai' nabohoi' webaa' -ra. Pai' hi bengi toe wo'o, hi'a hante hawe'ea tauna to hi rala tomi-na raniu' jadi' topetuku' Yesus. | And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway. |
| 34 | Oti toe, nakeni-ramo hilou hi tomi-na pai' -ra napokoni'. Goe' lia-ramo hantomia, apa' mepangala' -ramo hi Alata'ala. | And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house. |

Jadi', hilou-mokoi, pai' pelompehi-hawo momako'." | And the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace. |
| 37 | Aga na'uli' Paulus hi polisi toera: "Kai' tohe'i to Roma-kai. Ko'ia-di rapohurai kara-kara-kai ntuku' atura poparenta Roma, ncaliu raweba' -maka-kaina hi mata ntodea pai' ratarungku'. Hiaa' wae-e lau doko' rapopalai bongo wo'o-makai. Uma-kai dota! Uli' -raka retu, bate hira' moto-rawo to tumai mpobahaka-kai." | But Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out. |

Oti toe, me'ongko' mpu'u-ramo mpalahii ngata Filipi. | And they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed. |
