¶ Na ol i tok, God bilong ol Hibru i bin bung wantaim mipela. Mipela i askim plis long yu long larim mipela i go tripela de wokabaut long ples i no gat wara na mekim sakrifais long BIKPELA, em God bilong mipela. Nogut Em i bagarapim mipela long bikpela sik o long bainat. | And they said, The God of the Hebrews hath met with us: let us go, we pray thee, three days’ journey into the desert, and sacrifice unto the Lord our God; lest he fall upon us with pestilence, or with the sword.
Na king bilong Isip i tok long ol, Bilong wanem yupela, Moses na Eron, i pasim ol dispela manmeri long ol wok bilong ol? | 5 | Na Fero i tok, Harim, dispela manmeri bilong dispela hap graun nau ol i stap bikpela lain, na yupela i mekim ol i malolo long ol hatwok bilong ol. | And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
Na long dispela de Fero i givim strongpela tok long ol man i bosim wok bilong ol manmeri na ol lida bilong ol, na em i spik, | And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying,

Na dispela namba bilong ol brik ol i wokim pastaim, yupela i mas makim long ol. Yupela i no ken daunim namba bilong ol brik, long wanem ol i stap nating. Olsem na ol i singaut na spik, Larim mipela i go na mekim sakrifais long God bilong mipela. | And the tale of the bricks, which they did make heretofore, ye shall lay upon them; ye shall not diminish ought thereof: for they be idle; therefore they cry, saying, Let us go and sacrifice to our God.
Larim moa wok i kamap long ol dispela man, bai ol i ken hatwok long dispela, na ol i no ken harim ol toktok nating. | Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.
¶ Na ol man i bosim wok bilong ol manmeri i go wantaim ol lida bilong ol, na ol i toktok long ol manmeri na spik, Fero i tok olsem, Bai mi no givim yupela ol stik bilong wit. | And the taskmasters of the people went out, and their officers, and they spake to the people, saying, Thus saith Pharaoh, I will not give you straw.

¶ Long dispela taim ol lida bilong ol pikinini bilong Isrel i kam na singaut long Fero na spik, Bilong wanem yu mekim olsem long ol wokboi bilong yu? | Then the officers of the children of Israel came and cried unto Pharaoh, saying, Wherefore dealest thou thus with thy servants?

Na harim, ol i paitim ol wokboi bilong yu, tasol asua i stap long ol manmeri bilong yu yet. | There is no straw given unto thy servants, and they say to us, Make brick: and, behold, thy servants are beaten; but the fault is in thine own people. |
Tasol king i tok, Yupela i stap nating, yupela i stap nating. Olsem na yupela i tok, Larim mipela i go na mekim sakrifais long BIKPELA. | But he said, Ye are idle, ye are idle: therefore ye say, Let us go and do sacrifice to the Lord.
Olsem na nau go, na wok, long wanem bai ol i no givim ol stik bilong wit long yupela, tasol yupela bai givim stretpela namba bilong ol brik. | Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
Na ol lida bilong ol pikinini bilong Isrel i luksave long ol i stap long taim nogut, bihain long dispela tok, Yupela i no ken daunim namba bilong ol brik bilong yupela long wok bilong yupela long olgeta wan wan de. | And the officers of the children of Israel did see that they were in evil case, after it was said, Ye shall not minish ought from your bricks of your daily task.
Na ol i bungim Moses na Eron taim tupela i sanap long rot, taim ol i lusim Fero i kam. | And they met Moses and Aaron, who stood in the way, as they came forth from Pharaoh:

Na Moses i go gen long BIKPELA na em i tok, Bikpela, bilong wanem Yu bin mekim dispela pasin i nogut long dispela manmeri? Bilong wanem Yu bin salim mi i kam? | And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, Lord, wherefore hast thou so evil entreated this people? why is it that thou hast sent me?
