Tasol em, o ol wokboi bilong em, na ol manmeri bilong dispela hap, i no bin harim long ol toktok bilong BIKPELA, dispela Em i toktok long maus bilong profet Jeremaia. | But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the Lord, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.
Na king Sedekaia i salim Jehukal, pikinini man bilong Selemaia, na Sefanaia, pikinini man bilong pris Measeaia, long profet Jeremaia, i spik, Beten nau i go long BIKPELA, God bilong yumi, bilong helpim yumi. | And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the Lord our God for us.
Nau Jeremaia i kam insait na go ausait namel long ol manmeri. Long wanem, ol i no bin putim em long kalabus. | Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not put him into prison.
Nau ami bilong Fero i kam ausait long Isip. Na taim ol lain Kaldia husat i pasim Jerusalem i harim nius long ol i kam, ol i lusim Jerusalem. | Then Pharaoh’s army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.
Nau tok bilong BIKPELA i kam long profet Jeremaia, i spik, | Then came the word of the Lord unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying,

Na ol lain Kaldia bai kam bek gen, na pait birua long dispela biktaun, na kisim dispela, na kukim dispela wantaim paia. | And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
BIKPELA i tok olsem, No ken giamanim yupela yet, i spik, Tru tumas, ol lain Kaldia bai lusim yumi. Long wanem, ol bai i no inap go. | Thus saith the Lord; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.
Long wanem, maski yupela i bin paitim olgeta ami bilong ol lain Kaldia husat i pait birua long yupela, na ol man i bagarap tasol i stap yet namel long ol, yet olgeta wan wan man bai kirap long haus sel bilong en, na kukim dispela biktaun wantaim paia. | For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
¶ Na em i kamap olsem, long taim ami bilong ol lain Kaldia i bruk nabaut na lusim Jerusalem bikos ol i pret long ami bilong Fero, | And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh’s army,
Nau Jeremaia i go ausait long Jerusalem long go insait long hap bilong Benjamin, bilong brukim em yet long dispela ples long namel bilong ol manmeri. | Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.
Na taim em i stap long dua bilong banis bilong Benjamin, wanpela kepten bilong ol wasman i stap long dispela hap, husat nem bilong en em Iraisa, pikinini man bilong Selemaia, pikinini man bilong Hananaia. Na em i kisim profet Jeremaia, i spik, Yu laik go long sait bilong ol lain Kaldia. | And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
Nau Jeremaia i tok, Em i giaman. Mi no laik go long sait bilong ol lain Kaldia. Tasol em i no harim em. Olsem na Iraisa i kisim Jeremaia, na bringim em i go long ol hetman. | Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.
Olsem na ol hetman i belhat tru long Jeremaia, na paitim em, na putim em long kalabus long haus bilong man bilong rait Jonatan. Long wanem, ol i bin mekim dispela kalabus bilong ol. | Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.
Taim Jeremaia i go insait long strongpela kalabus, na insait long ol rum, na Jeremaia i bin stap yet long dispela hap planti de, | When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;
Nau king Sedekaia i salim tok, na kisim em i kam ausait. Na king i askim em hait insait long haus bilong em, na tok, I gat wanpela tok i kam long BIKPELA? Na Jeremaia i tok, I gat. Long wanem, em i tok, God bai givim yu long han bilong king bilong Babilon. | Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the Lord? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.
Na moa tu Jeremaia i tokim king Sedekaia, Mi bin bagarapim bel i birua long yu, o i birua long ol wokboi bilong yu, o i birua long dispela lain manmeri long wanem samting, inap long yupela i bin putim mi long kalabus? | Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?
Ol profet bilong yupela i stap we nau husat i autim tok profet long yupela, i spik, King bilong Babilon bai i no inap kam birua long yupela, o kam birua long dispela hap? | Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?
Olsem na harim nau, mi askim yu plis, O king, bikman bilong mi, larim autim askim bilong mi, mi askim yu plis, i ken orait long ai bilong yu, inap long yu no ken mekim mi go bek long haus bilong man bilong rait Jonatan, nogut mi dai long dispela hap. | Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.
Nau king Sedekaia i tok strong long ol i mas putim Jeremaia insait long ples op bilong kalabus, na long ol i mas givim long em, olgeta wan wan de, wanpela hap bret i kam ausait long rot bilong ol man bilong kukim bret, inap long taim olgeta bret bilong biktaun i pinis. Olsem tasol Jeremaia i stap yet long ples op bilong kalabus. | Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
