Long wanem, yu stap pikinini man bilong wanpela narakain meri. | And Gilead’s wife bare him sons; and his wife’s sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of a strange woman. |

| 6 | Na ol i tokim Jepta, Kam, na stap kepten bilong mipela, inap long mipela i ken pait wantaim ol pikinini bilong Amon. | And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon. |
| 7 | Na Jepta i tokim ol lapun hetman bilong Gileat, Ating i yes long yupela i bin hetim mi, na rausim mi i go ausait long hauslain bilong papa bilong mi? Na bilong wanem yupela i kam long mi nau taim yupela i stap insait long bikpela wari? | And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father’s house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are in distress? |

Na Jepta i toktok long olgeta toktok bilong em long ai bilong BIKPELA long Mispe. | Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the Lord in Mizpeh. |
| 12 | ¶ Na Jepta i salim ol mausman i go long king bilong ol pikinini bilong Amon, i spik, Yu gat wanem wok wantaim mi, inap long yu bin kam antap long birua long mi long pait insait long hap bilong mi? | And Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me to fight in my land? |

Olsem na nau givim i kam bek ol dispela hap gen wantaim bel isi. | And the king of the children of Ammon answered unto the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came up out of Egypt, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and unto Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably. |

| 15 | Na ol i tokim em, Jepta i tok olsem, Isrel i no bin tekewe hap bilong Moap, o hap bilong ol pikinini bilong Amon. | And said unto him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon: |
| 16 | Tasol taim Isrel i lusim Isip i kam antap, na wokabaut namel long ples i no gat man i go long Retsi, na kam long Kedes, | But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness unto the Red sea, and came to Kadesh; |
| 17 | Nau Isrel i salim ol mausman long king bilong Idom, i spik, Larim mi, mi askim yu plis, wokabaut namel long hap bilong yu. Tasol king bilong Idom i no gat laik long harim long en. Na long wankain pasin ol i salim tok i go long king bilong Moap. Tasol em i no gat laik long tok yes. Na Isrel i stap long Kedes. | Then Israel sent messengers unto the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken thereto. And in like manner they sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh. |

Long wanem, Arnon em i hap arere bilong Moap. | Then they went along through the wilderness, and compassed the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab. |

Na Isrel i tokim em, Larim mipela go, mi askim yu plis, namel long hap bilong yu i go long ples bilong mi. | And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land into my place. |

Tasol Saihon i bungim olgeta manmeri bilong em wantaim, na sanapim haus sel long Jahas, na pait birua long Isrel. | But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his coast: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and pitched in Jahaz, and fought against Israel. |

Olsem tasol Isrel i holimpas olgeta dispela hap bilong ol lain Amor, ol husat i stap long dispela kantri. | And the Lord God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country. |
| 22 | Na ol i holimpas olgeta hap arere bilong ol lain Amor, i stat long Arnon, yes, i go inap long Jabok, na i stat long ples i no gat man, yes, i go inap long Jordan. | And they possessed all the coasts of the Amorites, from Arnon even unto Jabbok, and from the wilderness even unto Jordan. |
| 23 | Olsem na nau God BIKPELA bilong Isrel i bin rausim holimpas bilong ol lain Amor long ai bilong ol manmeri bilong Em Isrel, na ating yu ken holimpas dispela? | So now the Lord God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it? |
| 24 | Ating i yes long yu ken holimpas dispela samting Kemos, god bilong yu, i givim yu long holimpas? Olsem na husat man BIKPELA, God bilong mipela, bai ranim i go ausait long ai bilong mipela, ol bai mipela holimpas. | Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomsoever the Lord our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess. |

O ating i gat taim em i pait birua long ol, | And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them, |

Olsem na bilong wanem yupela i no bin kisim bek ol bipo long dispela taim i lus? | While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that be along by the coasts of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did ye not recover them within that time? |

Jas BIKPELA bai stap jas tude namel long ol pikinini bilong Isrel na ol pikinini bilong Amon. | Wherefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me: the Lord the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon. |

| 29 | ¶ Nau Spirit bilong BIKPELA i kam antap long Jepta, na em i go hapsait long Gileat, na Manasa, na go hapsait long Mispe bilong Gileat, na lusim Mispe bilong Gileat i go hapsait i go long ol pikinini bilong Amon. | Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over unto the children of Ammon. |
| 30 | Na Jepta i wokim wanpela strongpela promis i go long BIKPELA, na tok, Sapos Yu bai i no inap fel long givim ol pikinini bilong Amon i kam long ol han bilong mi, | And Jephthah vowed a vow unto the Lord, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into mine hands, |
| 31 | Orait em bai kamap olsem, long wanem samting i kam ausait long ol dua bilong haus bilong mi long bungim mi, taim mi lusim ol pikinini bilong Amon na kam bek wantaim bel isi, tru tumas, dispela bai bilong BIKPELA, na mi bai ofaim dispela i go antap bilong wanpela ofa i kuk olgeta. | Then it shall be, that whatsoever cometh forth of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the Lord’s, and I will offer it up for a burnt offering. |
| 32 | Olsem na Jepta i go hapsait i go long ol pikinini bilong Amon long pait birua long ol. Na BIKPELA i givim ol i go long ol han bilong em. | So Jephthah passed over unto the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the Lord delivered them into his hands. |

Olsem tasol ol pikinini bilong Amon i stap aninit long ai bilong ol pikinini bilong Isrel. | And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou come to Minnith, even twenty cities, and unto the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel. |
| 34 | Na Jepta i kam long Mispe long haus bilong em, na, lukim, pikinini meri bilong em i kam ausait long bungim em wantaim ol liklik kundu na wantaim ol danis. Na em i stap wanpela pikinini tasol bilong em. Wantaim em, em i no gat pikinini man o pikinini meri. | And Jephthah came to Mizpeh unto his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter. |

Long wanem, mi bin opim maus bilong mi i go long BIKPELA, na mi no inap go bek. | And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he rent his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth unto the Lord, and I cannot go back. |
| 36 | Na meri i tokim em, Papa bilong mi, sapos yu bin opim maus bilong yu i go long BIKPELA, mekim long mi bilong bihainim dispela samting i bin kam ausait long maus bilong yu, bikos BIKPELA i bin bekim pe nogut bilong helpim yu antap long ol birua bilong yu, yes, long ol pikinini bilong Amon. | And she said unto him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth unto the Lord, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the Lord hath taken vengeance for thee of thine enemies, even of the children of Ammon. |

Larim mi stap tupela mun, inap long mi ken go antap na daunbilo antap long ol maunten, na krai bikos mi meri i no bin slip wantaim man, mi wantaim ol poroman bilong mi. | And she said unto her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my fellows. |
| 38 | Na em i tok, Go. Na em i salim em i go long tupela mun. Na meri i go wantaim ol poroman bilong em, na krai antap long ol maunten bikos em meri i no bin slip wantaim man. | And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains. |

Na dispela em i wanpela kastam long Isrel, | And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel, |
