Na Devit i salim tok long han bilong ol wokboi bilong em long givim bel isi long em bilong tingim papa bilong em. Na ol wokboi bilong Devit i kam insait long hap bilong ol pikinini bilong Amon. | Then said David, I will shew kindness unto Hanun the son of Nahash, as his father shewed kindness unto me. And David sent to comfort him by the hand of his servants for his father. And David’s servants came into the land of the children of Ammon. |

Na ol lain Siria bilong Soba, na bilong Rehop, na Istop, na Meaka, ol i stap ol yet long ples kunai. | And the children of Ammon came out, and put the battle in array at the entering in of the gate: and the Syrians of Zoba, and of Rehob, and Ish–tob, and Maacah, were by themselves in the field. |

Tasol sapos ol pikinini bilong Amon i strong tumas long yu, orait mi bai kam na helpim yu. | And he said, If the Syrians be too strong for me, then thou shalt help me: but if the children of Ammon be too strong for thee, then I will come and help thee. |

Na BIKPELA i ken mekim dispela samting i luk olsem i gutpela long ai bilong Em. | Be of good courage, and let us play the men for our people, and for the cities of our God: and the Lord do that which seemeth him good. |
| 13 | Na Joap i go klostu, na ol lain husat i stap wantaim em, i go long pait birua long ol lain Siria. Na ol i ranawe long ai bilong em. | And Joab drew nigh, and the people that were with him, unto the battle against the Syrians: and they fled before him. |
| 14 | Na taim ol pikinini bilong Amon i luksave long ol lain Siria i ranawe pinis, orait ol i ranawe tu long ai bilong Abisai, na go insait long biktaun. Olsem tasol Joap i lusim ol pikinini bilong Amon na kam bek, na kam long Jerusalem. | And when the children of Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they also before Abishai, and entered into the city. So Joab returned from the children of Ammon, and came to Jerusalem. |
| 15 | ¶ Na taim ol lain Siria i luksave long ol lain Isrel i paitim ol pinis, ol i bungim ol yet wantaim. | And when the Syrians saw that they were smitten before Israel, they gathered themselves together. |
| 16 | Na Hadariser i salim tok, na bringim ol lain Siria ausait husat i stap hapsait long riva. Na ol i kam long Helam. Na Sobak, kepten bilong ami bilong Hadariser, i go pas long ol. | And Hadarezer sent, and brought out the Syrians that were beyond the river: and they came to Helam; and Shobach the captain of the host of Hadarezer went before them. |
| 17 | Na taim ol i tokim Devit long dispela, em i bungim olgeta lain Isrel wantaim, na go hapsait long Jordan, na kam long Helam. Na ol lain Siria i lainim ol yet long pait birua long Devit, na pait wantaim em. | And when it was told David, he gathered all Israel together, and passed over Jordan, and came to Helam. And the Syrians set themselves in array against David, and fought with him. |

Na Devit i kilim i dai ol man bilong 700 karis bilong ol lain Siria, na 40,000 man i ran long hos, na paitim Sobak, kepten bilong ami bilong ol, husat i dai pinis long dispela hap. | And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there. |

So the Syrians feared to help the children of Ammon any more. |
