¶ Na ol lain Sif i kam long Sol long Gibia, i spik, Ating i yes long Devit i haitim em yet long liklik maunten bilong Hakila, dispela i stap long ai bilong Jesimon? | And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?
Nau Sol i kirap, na go daun long ples i no gat man bilong Sif, taim em i gat 3,000 man ol i makim bilong Isrel wantaim em, long painim Devit long ples i no gat man bilong Sif. | Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
Na Sol i sanapim haus sel long liklik maunten bilong Hakila, dispela i stap long ai bilong Jesimon, klostu long rot. Tasol Devit i stap long ples i no gat man, na em i luksave long Sol i kam bihainim em long ples i no gat man. | And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
Olsem na Devit i salim ol man bilong lukstil, na kisim save long Sol i kam tru tru. | David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.
Na Devit i kirap, na kam long ples we Sol i bin sanapim haus sel. Na Devit i lukim ples we Sol i slip, na Apner, pikinini man bilong Ner, kepten bilong ami bilong em. Na Sol i slip long dispela baret bilong hait, na ol lain i sanapim haus sel raun nabaut long em. | And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.
¶ Nau Devit i bekim na tokim man Hit Ahimelek, na tokim Abisai, pikinini man bilong Seruaia, brata bilong Joap, i spik, Husat bai go daun wantaim mi long kem long Sol? Na Abisai i tok, Mi bai go daun wantaim yu. | Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.
Olsem na Devit na Abisai i kam long ol lain long nait. Na, lukim, Sol i slip i dai insait long dispela baret bilong hait, na spia bilong tromoi bilong em i pas long graun klostu long pilo bilong em. Tasol Apner na ol lain i slip raun nabaut long em. | So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.
Nau Abisai i tokim Devit, God i bin givim birua bilong yu long han bilong yu tude. Olsem na nau larim mi paitim em, mi askim yu plis, wantaim spia bilong tromoi, yes, long graun wantu, na mi bai i no inap paitim em namba tu taim. | Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.
Na Devit i tokim Abisai, No ken bagarapim em olgeta. Long wanem, husat i ken stretim han bilong em ausait long birua long man BIKPELA i makim, na i no gat asua? | And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord’s anointed, and be guiltless?
Devit i tok tu moa olsem, Olsem BIKPELA i stap laip, BIKPELA bai paitim em, o de bilong em long dai bai kam, o em bai go daun long pait, na dai olgeta. | David said furthermore, As the Lord liveth, the Lord shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.
I no ken tru long mi ken stretim han bilong mi ausait long birua long man BIKPELA i makim. Tasol, mi askim yu plis, yu kisim nau dispela spia bilong tromoi i stap klostu long pilo bilong em, na dispela liklik jak wara, na yumi go. | The Lord forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the Lord’s anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
Olsem na Devit i kisim spia bilong tromoi na liklik jak wara klostu long pilo bilong Sol. Na tupela i kisim ol yet i go, na i no gat man i lukim dispela, o save long dispela, o kirap tu. Long wanem, olgeta bilong ol i slip i dai. Bilong wanem, slip i dip tru i kam long BIKPELA i pundaun antap long ol. | So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul’s bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the Lord was fallen upon them.
¶ Nau Devit i go long hapsait, na sanap antap long liklik maunten i stap longwe tru. Wanpela bikpela spes i stap namel long ol. | Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space being between them:
Na Devit i singaut long ol lain, na long Apner, pikinini man bilong Ner, i spik, Yu no bekim tok, Apner? Nau Apner i bekim na tok, Yu husat man i singaut long king? | And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?
Na Devit i tokim Apner, Ating i yes long yu wanpela strongpela man bilong pait? Na husat i wankain olsem yu long Isrel? Olsem wanem na nau yu no bin lukautim gut king, bikman bilong yu? Long wanem, i gat wanpela bilong ol lain i kam insait long bagarapim king olgeta, bikman bilong yu. | And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.
Dispela samting i no gutpela, dispela yu bin mekim. Olsem BIKPELA i stap laip, em i gutpela long yupela i ken dai, bilong wanem, yupela i no bin lukautim gut bikman bilong yupela, dispela man BIKPELA i makim. Na nau painim spia bilong tromoi bilong king i stap we, na dispela liklik jak wara i stap klostu long pilo bilong em. | This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the Lord liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the Lord’s anointed. And now see where the king’s spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster.
Na Sol i save long nek bilong Devit, na tok, Dispela em i nek bilong yu, pikinini man bilong mi Devit? Na Devit i tok, Em i nek bilong mi, bikman bilong mi, O king. | And Saul knew David’s voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.
Na em i tok, Olsem wanem na bikman bilong mi i wok long ran bihainim wokboi bilong em olsem? Long wanem, mi bin mekim wanem? O wanem pasin nogut i stap long han bilong mi? | And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand?
Olsem na nau, mi askim yu plis, larim king, bikman bilong mi, harim ol toktok bilong wokboi bilong em. Sapos BIKPELA i bin kirapim yu long birua long mi, larim Em i orait long kisim wanpela ofa. Tasol sapos em i ol pikinini bilong ol man, ol i mas lus long kot long ai bilong BIKPELA. Long wanem, tude ol i bin ranim mi i go ausait long stap long graun papa i givim pikinini bilong BIKPELA, i spik, Go, bihainim ol arapela god. | Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the Lord have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the Lord; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Go, serve other gods.
Olsem na nau, no ken larim blut bilong mi pundaun long graun long ai bilong pes bilong BIKPELA. Long wanem, king bilong Isrel i kam ausait long painim wanpela fli, wankain olsem taim wanpela i painim wanpela patrij long ol maunten. | Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains.
¶ Nau Sol i tok, Mi bin mekim sin. Kam bek, pikinini man bilong mi Devit. Long wanem, mi bai i no inap bagarapim yu moa, bilong wanem, tewel bilong mi i dia tumas long ai bilong yu tude. Lukim, mi bin pilai olsem krankiman, na mi bin paul planti moa yet. | Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.
Na Devit i bekim na tok, Lukim spia bilong tromoi bilong king! Na larim wanpela bilong ol yangpela man i kam hapsait na kisim dispela. | And David answered and said, Behold the king’s spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.
Na BIKPELA i ken mekim long olgeta wan wan man long stretpela pasin bilong em, na pasin bilong Em bilong mekim ol man i bilip long Em. Long wanem, BIKPELA i givim yu long han bilong mi tude, tasol mi no gat laik long stretim han bilong mi i go ausait long birua long man BIKPELA i makim. | The Lord render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness: for the Lord delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the Lord’s anointed.
Na, lukim, olsem laip bilong yu i bikpela samting long ai bilong mi tude, olsem tasol larim laip bilong mi stap bikpela samting long ai bilong BIKPELA, na larim Em kisim bek mi ausait long olgeta bikpela hevi. | And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the Lord, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.
Nau Sol i tokim Devit, Blesing i stap long yu, pikinini man bilong mi Devit. Yu bai mekim ol bikpela samting, na tu yu bai win yet wantaim. Olsem na Devit i go long rot bilong em yet, na Sol i go bek long ples bilong em. | Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
