¶ Ating i yes long yupela i save, ol brata, (long wanem, mi toktok long ol husat i save long lo,) olsem long lo i gat strong long bosim man inap long taim em i stap laip? | Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth?
Long wanem, maritmeri husat i gat man i kalabus long lo long man bilong em inap long taim man i stap laip. Tasol sapos man i dai pinis, meri i lusim pinis kalabus bilong lo bilong man bilong em. | For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.
Orait nau sapos, taim man bilong em i stap laip, meri i maritim narapela man, ol bai kolim em meri bilong bagarapim marit long pamuk pasin. Tasol sapos man bilong em i dai pinis, em i fri long dispela lo, inap long em i no meri bilong bagarapim marit long pamuk pasin, maski em i marit long narapela man. | So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.
Olsem na, ol brata bilong mi, yupela tu i kamap ol daiman long lo long wok bilong bodi bilong Kraist, inap long yupela i ken marit long narapela, yes, long em husat God i kirapim long dai, inap long yumi ken karim kaikai i go long God. | Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
Long wanem, taim yumi stap insait long olpela bel, ol muv bilong sin, dispela i kam long lo, i bin mekim wok insait long ol hap bilong bodi bilong yumi long karim kaikai i go long dai. | For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.
Tasol nau God i kisim bek yumi long lo, dispela i dai pinis we i holimpas yumi long en, inap long yumi ken bihainim God long nupela pasin bilong spirit, na i no long olpela pasin bilong leta. | But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
¶ Yumi bai tok wanem nau? Lo em i sin? I no ken tru. Nogat, mi no bin save long sin, sapos i no bin long wok bilong lo. Long wanem, mi no bin save long aigris, sapos lo i no bin tok, Yu no ken mangal. | What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
Tasol sin, taim em i kisim sans long wok bilong tok strong, i wokim insait long mi olgeta kain mangal nogut. Long wanem, taim lo i no stap sin i stap daiman. | But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
Long wanem, mi stap laip wanpela taim taim lo i no stap. Tasol taim tok strong i kam, sin i kirap gen, na mi dai pinis. | For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
Na dispela tok strong, dispela God i makim long laip, mi painimaut pinis em i go long dai. | And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Long wanem sin, taim em i kisim sans long wok bilong tok strong, i giamanim mi, na long dispela em i kilim mi i dai. | For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.
Olsem na lo em i holi, na tok strong em i holi, na stretpela, na gutpela. | Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.
Ating nau dispela samting i gutpela i kamap dai long mi? I no ken tru. Tasol sin, inap long em i ken kamap ples klia olsem em i sin, taim em i wokim dai insait long mi long dispela samting i gutpela, inap long sin, long wok bilong tok strong, i ken kamap sin i pulap planti moa yet. | Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
¶ Long wanem, yumi save long lo em i bilong spirit sait. Tasol mi stap man bilong bodi sait, slevman aninit long sin. | For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
Long wanem, dispela samting mi mekim mi no orait long en. Long wanem, samting mi laik mekim, dispela mi no mekim. Tasol wanem samting mi hetim, dispela mi mekim. | For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
Nau sapos mi mekim dispela samting mi no laik mekim, mi tok yes i go long lo long dispela em i gutpela. | If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Orait nau em i no moa mi husat i mekim dispela, tasol dispela sin i stap insait long mi. | Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Long wanem, mi save long insait long mi (em i olsem, insait long bodi bilong mi,) i no gat wanpela gutpela samting i stap. Long wanem, pawa bilong laikim i stap wantaim mi. Tasol rot bilong mekim dispela samting i gutpela mi no painim pinis. | For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
Long wanem, dispela gutpela samting mi laik mekim mi no mekim. Tasol dispela pasin nogut mi no laik mekim, dispela mi mekim. | For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Nau sapos mi mekim dispela mi no laik mekim, em i no moa mi husat i mekim dispela, tasol dispela sin i stap insait long mi. | Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
Mi painim pinis nau wanpela lo, long, taim mi laik mekim gutpela pasin, pasin nogut i stap wantaim mi. | I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
Long wanem, mi gat gutpela amamas long lo bilong God i bihainim dispela insait man. | For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
Tasol mi lukim narapela lo insait long ol hap bilong bodi bilong mi, i wokim bikpela pait i birua long lo bilong tingting bilong mi, na i bringim mi i go kalabus long lo bilong sin, dispela i stap insait long ol hap bilong bodi bilong mi. | But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
O man i bagarap tru olsem mi stap! Husat bai kisim bek mi long bodi bilong dispela dai? | O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Mi tok tenkyu long God long wok bilong Jisas Kraist, Bikpela bilong yumi. Olsem nau wantaim tingting mi mi yet i bihainim lo bilong God, tasol wantaim bodi lo bilong sin. | I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
