Tasol God bilong mipela i tanim tok nogut i kamap wanpela blesing. | Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing. |

| 5 | Na em i bin redim bilong em wanpela bikpela rum, we bilong taim bipo ol i bin slipim ol ofa bilong kaikai, frankinsens, na ol sospen samting, na ol namba ten hap bilong wit samting, nupela wain, na wel, dispela God i tok strong bilong givim long ol lain Livai, na ol lain bilong singim song, na ol wasman bilong dua, na ol ofa bilong ol pris. | And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests. |

Na long dispela hap mi bringim gen ol sospen samting bilong haus bilong God, wantaim ofa bilong kaikai na frankinsens. | Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense. |
| 10 | ¶ Na mi kisim save long ol hap skel bilong ol lain Livai, ol i no bin givim long ol. Long wanem, ol lain Livai na ol lain bilong singim song, husat i mekim wok, i ranawe pinis, olgeta wan wan long bikpela gaden bilong em. | And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field. |

Na mi bungim ol wantaim, na putim ol long ol ples bilong ol. | Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place. |

Na klostu stret long ol em Hanan, pikinini man bilong Sakur, pikinini man bilong Matanaia. Long wanem, mipela kaunim ol olsem ol man yu inap bilip long ol. Na ol wok bilong ol em bilong tilim i go long ol brata bilong ol. | And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren. |

Na mi tokaut klia i birua long ol long de we ol i salim kaikai insait long en. | In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals. |

| 17 | Nau mi pait strong wantaim ol bikman bilong Juda, na tokim ol, Dispela pasin nogut yupela i mekim em i wanem samting, na yupela mekim de sabat i sting? | Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day? |

Yet yupela i bringim sampela belhat tru moa antap long Isrel, taim yupela i mekim de sabat i sting. | Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath. |

Na sampela bilong ol wokboi bilong mi mi putim long ol dua bilong banis, inap long ol i no ken bringim kago insait long de sabat. | And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day. |

I stat long dispela taim i go ol i no kam moa long sabat. | Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath. |
| 22 | Na mi tok strong long ol lain Livai long ol i mas klinim ol yet, na long ol i mas kam na lukautim ol dua bilong banis, bilong mekim de sabat long stap holi. Tingim mi gen, O God bilong mi, long sait bilong dispela tu, na soim sori long mi bilong bihainim bikpela sori bilong Yu. | And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy. |
| 23 | ¶ Long ol dispela de tu mi lukim ol Ju husat i bin maritim ol meri bilong Asdot, bilong Amon, na bilong Moap. | In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab: |
| 24 | Na ol pikinini bilong ol i toktok hap long tok ples bilong Asdot, na ol i no inap long toktok long tok ples bilong ol Ju, tasol bilong bihainim ol tok ples bilong olgeta wan wan lain. | And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people. |
| 25 | Na mi pait strong wantaim ol, na tok nogutim ol, na paitim sampela bilong ol, na pulim gras bilong ol i go ausait, na mekim ol long wokim strongpela promis long nem bilong God, i spik, Yupela i no ken givim ol pikinini meri bilong yupela long ol pikinini man bilong ol, o kisim ol pikinini meri bilong ol bilong ol pikinini man bilong yupela, o bilong yupela yet. | And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves. |

Tasol yes, ol meri bilong ol ausait hap i bin mekim em long sin. | Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin. |
| 27 | Ating nau mipela i ken harim long yupela bilong mekim olgeta dispela bikpela pasin nogut, long kalapim lo i birua long God bilong mipela, taim mipela maritim ol ausait meri? | Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives? |
| 28 | Na wanpela bilong ol pikinini man bilong Joiada, pikinini man bilong hetpris Eliasip, em i tambu pikinini man bilong man Horon Sanbalat. Olsem na mi ranim em i lusim mi. | And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me. |
| 29 | Tingim ol gen, O God bilong mi. Bilong wanem, ol i bin mekim wok pris i kamap doti, na kontrak bilong wok pris, na bilong ol lain Livai. | Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites. |
| 30 | Olsem tasol mi klinim ol long olgeta ausait man, na makim ol ples bilong ol pris na ol lain Livai, olgeta wan wan insait long wok bilong em. | Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business; |
| 31 | Na mi makim bilong ol diwai ofa, long ol taim bilong en, na bilong ol namba wan kaikai. Tingim mi gen, O God bilong mi, bilong helpim. | And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good. |
