1 Pablo y Timoteo, siervos de Jesu Cristo, a todos los santos en Cristo Jesús, que están en Filipos, con los obispos, y diáconos: Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Gracia a vosotros, y paz de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesu Cristo. Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Doy gracias a mi Dios, toda vez que me acuerdo de vosotros, I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 Siempre en todas mis oraciones haciendo oración por todos vosotros con gozo, Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 De vuestra participación en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora: For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Confiando de esto mismo, es a saber, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesu Cristo: Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
7 Así como es justo que yo piense esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; puesto que así en mis prisiones, como en la defensa y confirmación del evangelio, todos vosotros sois partícipes de mi gracia. Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
8 Porque testigo me es Dios de como os amo a todos vosotros en las entrañas de Jesu Cristo. For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
9 Y esto pido a Dios: Que vuestro amor abunde aun más y más en ciencia y en todo conocimiento: And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
10 Para que aprobéis lo mejor, a fin de que seáis sinceros y sin ofensa para el día de Cristo: That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;
11 Llenos de los frutos de justicia que son por Jesu Cristo, para gloria y loor de Dios. Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
12 Mas quiero, hermanos, que sepáis, que las cosas concernientes a mí han contribuido más bien al adelantamiento del evangelio; But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
13 De tal manera, que mis prisiones en Cristo se han hecho bien conocidas en todo el palacio, y en todos los demás lugares; So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
14 Y los más de los hermanos en el Señor, tomando ánimo con mis prisiones, osan más atrevidamente hablar la palabra sin temor. And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Algunos, a la verdad, aun por envidia y porfía predican a Cristo; mas otros también de buena voluntad: Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 Aquellos por contención anuncian a Cristo, no sinceramente, pensando añadir mayor apretura a mis prisiones: The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 Mas estos por amor, sabiendo que yo he sido puesto por defensa del evangelio. But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 ¿Qué hay pues? Esto no obstante, de todas maneras, o por pretexto o por verdad, Cristo es anunciado; y en esto me huelgo, y aun me holgaré. What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
19 Porque sé que esto se me tornará a salud por vuestra oración, y por el suplimiento del Espíritu de Jesu Cristo. For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20 Conforme a mi deseo y esperanza, que en nada seré confundido; antes que con toda confianza, como siempre, así ahora también será engrandecido Cristo en mi cuerpo, o por vida, o por muerte. According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 Porque para mí el vivir es Cristo, y el morir es ganancia. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 Mas, si viviere en la carne, esto me da fruto de trabajo; sin embargo lo que escogeré, yo no lo sé; But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 Porque por ambas partes estoy puesto en estrecho, teniendo deseo de partir, y estar con Cristo, que es mucho mejor: For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Mas el quedar en la carne, es más necesario por causa de vosotros. Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 Y confiando en esto, sé que quedaré, y permaneceré con todos vosotros, para vuestro provecho, y gozo en la fe. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
26 Para que abunde más en Jesu Cristo el motivo de vuestra gloria en mí, por mi venida otra vez a vosotros. That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
27 Solamente que vuestro proceder sea digno del evangelio de Cristo; para que, o sea que venga y os vea, o que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros, que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, con un mismo ánimo combatiendo juntamente por la fe del evangelio; Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
28 Y en nada espantados de los que se oponen, lo cual para ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas para vosotros de salud, y esto de Dios. And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
29 Porque a vosotros os es concedido en nombre de Cristo no solo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él. For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
30 Teniendo en vosotros la misma lucha que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís estar en mí. Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
