| 18 | ¶ Y el nacimiento de Jesu Cristo fue así: Que estando María su madre desposada con José, antes que hubiesen estado juntos, se halló haber concebido del Espíritu Santo. | Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. |
| 19 | Y José su marido, como era justo, y no quisiese exponerla a la infamia, quiso dejarla secretamente. | Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily. |
| 20 | Y pensando él en esto, he aquí, que el ángel del Señor le aparece en sueños, diciendo: José, hijo de David, no temas de recibir a María tu mujer; porque lo que en ella es engendrado, del Espíritu Santo es. | But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. |
| 21 | Y parirá un hijo, y llamarás su nombre Jesús: porque él salvará a su pueblo de sus pecados. | And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. |
| 22 | Todo esto aconteció para que se cumpliese lo que había hablado el Señor por el profeta, que dijo: | Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, |
| 23 | He aquí, una virgen concebirá, y parirá un hijo, y llamarán su nombre Emmanuel, que interpretado quiere decir: Dios con nosotros. | Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. |
| 24 | Y despertado José del sueño; hizo como el ángel del Señor le había mandado, y recibió a su mujer. | Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: |
| 25 | Y no la conoció hasta que parió a su Hijo primogénito; y llamó su nombre Jesús. | And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. |
