1 Зато, браћо света, заједничари звања небескога, познајте посланика и владику, којега ми признајемо, Исуса Христа, Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
2 Који је вјеран ономе који га створи, као и Мојсије у свему дому његову. Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
3 Јер овај поста толико достојан веће части од Мојсија, колико већу од дома част има онај који га је начинио. For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
4 Јер сваки дом треба неко да начини; а ко је све створио оно је Бог. For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
5 И Мојсије дакле бјеше вјеран у свему дому његову, као слуга, за свједочанство онога што је требало да се говори. And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 Али је Христос као син у дому својему: којега смо дом ми, ако слободу и славу нада до краја тврдо одржимо. But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
7 Зато, као што говори Дух свети: данас ако глас његов чујете, Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
8 Не будите дрвенастијех срца, као кад се прогњевисте у дане напасти у пустињи, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 Гдје ме искушаше оцеви ваши, искушаше ме, и гледаше дјела моја четрдесет година. When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
10 Тога ради расрдих се на тај род, и рекох: једнако се мету у срцима, али они не познаше путова мојијех; Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
11 Зато се заклех у гњеву својему да неће ући у покој мој. So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
12 Гледајте, браћо, да не буде кад у коме од вас зло срце невјерства да отступи од Бога живога; Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
13 Него се утјешавајте сваки дан, докле се данас говори, да који од вас не одрвени од пријеваре грјеховне; But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
14 Јер постадосмо заједничари Христу, само ако како смо почели у њему бити до краја тврдо одржимо; For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
15 Докле се говори: данас, ако глас његов чујете, не будите дрвенастијех срца, као кад се прогњевисте. While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
16 Јер неки чувши прогњевише се, али не сви који изиђоше из Мисира с Мојсијем. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
17 А на које мрзи четрдесет година? Није ли на оне који сагријешише, који оставише кости у пустињи? But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
18 А којима се закле да неће ући у покој његов, него онима који не хтјеше да вјерују? And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
19 И видимо да не могоше ући за невјерство. So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
