1 Послије јавише Јосифу: ено, отац ти је болестан. А он поведе са собом два сина своја, Манасију и Јефрема. And it came to pass after these things, that one told Joseph, Behold, thy father is sick: and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.
2 И јавише Јакову и рекоше: ево син твој Јосиф иде к теби. А Израиљ се окријепи, те сједе на постељи својој. And one told Jacob, and said, Behold, thy son Joseph cometh unto thee: and Israel strengthened himself, and sat upon the bed.
3 И рече Јаков Јосифу: Бог свемогући јави се мени у Лузу у земљи Хананској, и благослови ме; And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,
4 И рече ми: учинићу те да нарастеш и намножиш се; и учинићу од тебе мноштво народа, и даћу земљу ову сјемену твојему након тебе да је њихова довијека. And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.
5 Сада дакле два сина твоја, што ти се родише у земљи Мисирској прије него дођох к теби у Мисир, моји су, Јефрем и Манасија као Рувим и Симеун нека буду моји. And now thy two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
6 А дјеца коју родиш послије њих, нека буду твоја и нека се по имену браће своје зову у нашљедству својем. And thy issue, which thou begettest after them, shall be thine, and shall be called after the name of their brethren in their inheritance.
7 Јер кад се вратих из Падана, умрије ми Рахиља у земљи Хананској на путу, кад бјеше још мало до Ефрате; и погребох је на путу у Ефрату, а то је Витлејем. And as for me, when I came from Padan, Rachel died by me in the land of Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of Ephrath; the same is Beth–lehem.
8 А видјев Израиљ синове Јосифове, рече: ко су ови? And Israel beheld Joseph’s sons, and said, Who are these?
9 А Јосиф рече оцу својему: моји синови, које ми Бог даде овдје. А он рече: доведи их к мени, да их благословим. And Joseph said unto his father, They are my sons, whom God hath given me in this place. And he said, Bring them, I pray thee, unto me, and I will bless them.
10 А очи бјеху Израиљу отежале од старости, те не могаше добро видјети. А кад му их приведе, цијелива их и загрли. Now the eyes of Israel were dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he kissed them, and embraced them.
11 И рече Израиљ Јосифу: нијесам мислио да ћу видјети лице твоје; а гле, Бог ми даде да видим и пород твој. And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.
12 А Јосиф одмаче их од кољена његовијех и поклони се лицем до земље. And Joseph brought them out from between his knees, and he bowed himself with his face to the earth.
13 Па их узе Јосиф обојицу, Јефрема себи с десне стране а Израиљу с лијеве, Манасију пак себи с лијеве стране а Израиљу с десне; и тако их примаче к њему. And Joseph took them both, Ephraim in his right hand toward Israel’s left hand, and Manasseh in his left hand toward Israel’s right hand, and brought them near unto him.
14 А Израиљ пружив десну руку своју метну је на главу Јефрему млађему, а лијеву на главу Манасији, тако намјестив руке навлаш, ако и јест Манасија био првенац. And Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid it upon Ephraim’s head, who was the younger, and his left hand upon Manasseh’s head, guiding his hands wittingly; for Manasseh was the firstborn.
15 И благослови Јосифа говорећи: Бог, којему су свагда угађали оци моји Аврам и Исак, Бог, који ме је хранио од како сам постао до данашњега дана, And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God which fed me all my life long unto this day,
16 Анђео, који ме је избављао од свакога зла, да благослови дјецу ову, и да се по мојему имену и по имену отаца мојих Аврама и Исака прозову, и да се као рибе намноже на земљи! The Angel which redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be named on them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.
17 А Јосиф кад видје гдје отац метну десну руку своју на главу Јефрему, не би му мило, па ухвати за руку оца својега да је премјести с главе Јефремове на главу Манасијину. And when Joseph saw that his father laid his right hand upon the head of Ephraim, it displeased him: and he held up his father’s hand, to remove it from Ephraim’s head unto Manasseh’s head.
18 И рече Јосиф оцу својему: не тако, оче; ово је првенац, метни десницу њему на главу. And Joseph said unto his father, Not so, my father: for this is the firstborn; put thy right hand upon his head.
19 Али отац његов не хтје, него рече: знам, сине, знам; и од њега ће постати народ, и он ће бити велик; али ће млађи брат његов бити већи од њега, и сјеме ће његово бити велико мноштво народа. And his father refused, and said, I know it, my son, I know it: he also shall become a people, and he also shall be great: but truly his younger brother shall be greater than he, and his seed shall become a multitude of nations.
20 И благослови их у онај дан и рече: тобом ће Израиљ благосиљати говорећи: Бог да те учини као Јефрема и као Манасију. Тако постави Јефрема пред Манасију. And he blessed them that day, saying, In thee shall Israel bless, saying, God make thee as Ephraim and as Manasseh: and he set Ephraim before Manasseh.
21 Послије рече Израиљ Јосифу: ево ја ћу скоро умријети; али ће Бог бити с вама и одвешће вас опет у земљу отаца ваших. And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
22 И ја ти дајем један дио више него браћи твојој, који узех из руку Аморејских мачем својим и луком својим. Moreover I have given to thee one portion above thy brethren, which I took out of the hand of the Amorite with my sword and with my bow.
