1 Послије му се јави Господ у равници Мамријској кад сјеђаше на вратима пред шатором својим у подне. And the Lord appeared unto him in the plains of Mamre: and he sat in the tent door in the heat of the day;
2 Подигавши очи своје погледа, и гле, три човјека стајаху према њему. И угледавши их потрча им у сусрет испред врата шатора својега, и поклони се до земље; And he lift up his eyes and looked, and, lo, three men stood by him: and when he saw them, he ran to meet them from the tent door, and bowed himself toward the ground,
3 И рече: Господе, ако сам нашао милост пред тобом, немој проћи слуге својега. And said, My Lord, if now I have found favour in thy sight, pass not away, I pray thee, from thy servant:
4 Да вам донесемо мало воде и оперите ноге, те се наслоните мало под овијем дрветом. Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:
5 И изнијећу мало хљеба, те поткријепите срце своје, па онда пођите, кад идете поред слуге својега. И рекоше: учини што си казао. And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.
6 И Аврам отрча у шатор к Сари, и рече: брже замијеси три копање бијелога брашна и испеци погаче. And Abraham hastened into the tent unto Sarah, and said, Make ready quickly three measures of fine meal, knead it, and make cakes upon the hearth.
7 Па отрча ка говедима и ухвати теле младо и добро, и даде га момку да га брже зготови. And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it.
8 Па онда изнесе масла и млијека и теле које бјеше зготовио, и постави им, а сам стајаше пред њима под дрветом докле јеђаху. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
9 И они му рекоше: гдје је Сара жена твоја? А он рече: ено је под шатором. And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent.
10 А један између њих рече: до године у ово доба опет ћу доћи к теби, а Сара ће жена твоја имати сина. А Сара слушаше на вратима од шатора иза њега. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him.
11 А Аврам и Сара бијаху стари и временити, и у Саре бјеше престало што бива у жена. Now Abraham and Sarah were old and well stricken in age; and it ceased to be with Sarah after the manner of women.
12 Зато се насмија Сара у себи говорећи: пошто сам остарјела, сад ли ће ми доћи радост? а и господар ми је стар. Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, After I am waxed old shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?
13 Тада рече Господ Авраму: што се смије Сара говорећи: истина ли је да ћу родити кад сам остарјела? And the Lord said unto Abraham, Wherefore did Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I of a surety bear a child, which am old?
14 Има ли што тешко Господу? До године у ово доба опет ћу доћи к теби, а Сара ће имати сина. Is any thing too hard for the Lord? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.
15 А Сара удари у бах говорећи: нијесам се смијала. Јер се уплаши. Али он рече: није истина, него си се смијала. Then Sarah denied, saying, I laughed not; for she was afraid. And he said, Nay; but thou didst laugh.
16 Потом усташе људи оданде, и пођоше пут Содома; а Аврам пође с њима да их испрати. And the men rose up from thence, and looked toward Sodom: and Abraham went with them to bring them on the way.
17 А Господ рече: како бих тајио од Аврама шта ћу учинити, And the Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
18 Кад ће од Аврама постати велик и силан народ, и у њему ће се благословити сви народи на земљи? Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
19 Јер знам да ће заповиједити синовима својима и дому својему након себе да се држе путева Господњих и да чине што је право и добро, да би Господ навршио на Авраму што му је обећао. For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
20 И рече Господ: вика је у Содому и Гомору велика, и гријех је њихов грдан. And the Lord said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;
21 Зато ћу сићи да видим еда ли све чине као што вика дође преда ме; ако ли није тако, да знам. I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.
22 И људи окренувши се пођоше пут Содома; али Аврам још стајаше пред Господом, And the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord.
23 И приступив Аврам рече: хоћеш ли погубити и праведнога с неправедним? And Abraham drew near, and said, Wilt thou also destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24 Може бити да има педесет праведника у граду; хоћеш ли и њих погубити, и нећеш опростити мјесту за онијех педесет праведника што су у њему? Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
25 Немој то чинити, ни губити праведника с неправедником, да буде праведнику као и неправеднику; немој; еда ли судија цијеле земље неће судити право? That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
26 И рече Господ: ако нађем у Содому педесет праведника у граду, опростићу цијелом мјесту њих ради. And the Lord said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.
27 А Аврам одговори и рече: гле, сада бих проговорио Господу, ако и јесам прах и пепео. And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:
28 Може бити праведника педесет мање пет, хоћеш ли за овијех пет потрти сав град? Одговори: нећу, ако нађем четрдесет и пет. Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.
29 И стаде даље говорити, и рече: може бити да ће се наћи четрдесет. Рече: нећу ради онијех четрдесет. And he spake unto him yet again, and said, Peradventure there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty’s sake.
30 Потом рече: немој се гњевити, Господе, што ћу рећи; може бити да ће се наћи тридесет. И рече: нећу, ако нађем тридесет. And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Peradventure there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there.
31 Опет рече: гле, сада бих проговорио Господу; може бити да ће се наћи двадесет. Рече: нећу их погубити за онијех двадесет. And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake.
32 Најпослије рече: немој се гњевити, Господе, што ћу још једном проговорити; може бити да ће се наћи десет. Рече: нећу их погубити ради онијех десет. And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.
33 И Господ отиде свршивши разговор са Аврамом; а Аврам се врати на своје мјесто. And the Lord went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.
