| 1 | Слушајте, дјецо, наставу очину, и пазите да бисте познали мудрост. | Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding. |
| 2 | Јер вам добру науку дајем, не остављајте закона мојега. | For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law. |
| 3 | Кад бијах син у оца својега млад, и јединац у матере своје, | For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother. |
| 4 | Он ме учаше и говораше ми: нека прими срце твоје ријечи моје, држи заповијести моје и бићеш жив. | He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live. |
| 5 | Прибави мудрост, прибави разум; не заборављај и не отступај од ријечи уста мојих. | Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. |
| 6 | Немој је оставити, и чуваће те, љуби је, и храниће те. | Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. |
| 7 | Мудрост је главно; прибави мудрост, и за све имање своје прибави разум. | Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. |
| 8 | Подижи је и она ће те узвисити, прославиће те кад је загрлиш. | Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her. |
| 9 | Метнуће ти на главу вијенац од милина, красну круну даће ти. | She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee. |
| 10 | Слушај, сине мој, и прими ријечи моје, и умножиће ти се године животу. | Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many. |
| 11 | Учим те путу мудрости, водим те стазама правијем. | I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths. |
| 12 | Кад усходиш, неће се стезати кораци твоји, и ако потрчиш нећеш се спотакнути. | When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble. |
| 13 | Држи се наставе и не пуштај, чувај је, јер ти је живот. | Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life. |
| 14 | Не иди на стазу безбожничку и путем неваљалијех људи не ступај. | Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men. |
| 15 | Остави га, не ходи по њему, уклони се од њега и мини га. | Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away. |
| 16 | Јер не спавају ако не учине зла, и не долази им сан ако кога не оборе. | For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall. |
| 17 | Јер једу хљеб безбожности и пију вино насиља. | For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence. |
| 18 | А пут је праведнички као свијетло видјело, које све већма свијетли док не буде прави дан. | But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. |
| 19 | А пут је безбожнички као мрак, не знају на што ће се спотакнути. | The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble. |
| 20 | Сине мој, слушај ријечи моје, пригни ухо своје бесједи мојој. | My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. |
| 21 | Да ти не одлазе из очију; чувај их усред срца својега. | Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. |
| 22 | Јер су живот онима који их налазе и здравље свему тијелу њихову. | For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. |
| 23 | Сврх свега што се чува чувај срце своје, јер из њега излази живот. | Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. |
| 24 | Уклони од уста својих опачину и од усана својих неваљалство удаљи. | Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. |
| 25 | Очи твоје нека гледају управо и вјеђе твоје нека се управљају право пред тобом. | Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. |
| 26 | Мјери стазу ногама својим, и сви путови твоји нека су поравњени. | Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. |
| 27 | Не сврћи ни надесно ни налијево, одвраћај ногу своју ода зла. | Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil. |
