1 Тада одговори Вилдад Сушанин и рече: Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
2 Докле ћеш тако говорити? и ријечи уста твојих докле ће бити као силан вјетар? How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?
3 Еда ли Бог криво суди? или Свемогући изврће правду? Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
4 Што су синови твоји згријешили њему, зато их је дао безакоњу њихову. If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
5 А ти да потражиш Бога и помолиш се Свемогућему, If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
6 Ако си чист и прав, заиста ће се пренути за те и честит ће учинити праведан стан твој; If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
7 И почетак ће твој бити мален, а пошљедак ће ти бити врло велик. Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
8 Јер питај пређашњи нараштај, и настани да разабереш од отаца њиховијех; For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
9 Јер смо ми јучерашњи, и не знамо ништа, јер су наши дани на земљи сјен. (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:)
10 Неће ли те они научити? неће ли ти казати и из срца својега изнијети ријечи? Shall not they teach thee, and tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11 Ниче ли сита без влаге? расте ли рогоз без воде? Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
12 Док се још зелени, док се не покоси, суши се прије сваке траве. Whilst it is yet in his greenness, and not cut down, it withereth before any other herb.
13 Таке су стазе свијех који заборављају Бога, и надање лицемјерово пропада. So are the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:
14 Његово се надање подлама и уздање је његово кућа паукова; Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust shall be a spider’s web.
15 Наслони се на кућу своју, али она не стоји тврдо; ухвати се за њу, али се она не може одржати. He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
16 Зелени се на сунцу, и уврх врта његова пружају се огранци његови; He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
17 Жиле његове заплећу се код извора, и на мјесту камениту шири се; His roots are wrapped about the heap, and seeth the place of stones.
18 Али кад се ишчупа из мјеста својега, оно га се одриче: нијесам те видјело. If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.
19 Ето, то је радост од његова пута; а из праха ниче други. Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
20 Гле, Бог не одбацује доброга, али не прихвата за руку зликовца. Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man, neither will he help the evil doers:
21 Још ће напунити уста твоја смијеха и усне твоје попијевања. Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
22 Ненавидници твоји обући ће се у срамоту, и шатора безбожничкога неће бити. They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
