1 Још говори Елијуј и рече: Elihu spake moreover, and said,
2 Мислиш ли да си право рекао: моја је правда већа од Божије? Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s?
3 Јер си рекао: шта ће ми помоћи, кака ће ми бити корист, да не гријешим? For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin?
4 Ја ћу одговорити теби и друговима твојим с тобом. I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee.
5 Погледај небо, и види; погледај облаке, како су виши од тебе. Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou.
6 Ако гријешиш, шта ћеш му учинити? или ако се умноже безакоња твоја, шта ћеш му наудити? If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him?
7 Ако си праведан, шта ћеш му дати? или шта ће примити из руке твоје? If thou be righteous, what givest thou him? or what receiveth he of thine hand?
8 Човјеку какав си може наудити твоја злоћа, и сину човјечијему помоћи твоја правда. Thy wickedness may hurt a man as thou art; and thy righteousness may profit the son of man.
9 Вапију од великога насиља којима се чини, и вичу на руку силнијех; By reason of the multitude of oppressions they make the oppressed to cry: they cry out by reason of the arm of the mighty.
10 А ниједан не говори: гдје је Бог, Створитељ мој, који даје пјесму ноћу; But none saith, Where is God my maker, who giveth songs in the night;
11 Који чини те смо разумнији од звијерја земаљскога, и мудрији од птица небеских. Who teacheth us more than the beasts of the earth, and maketh us wiser than the fowls of heaven?
12 Тамо вичу с охолости злијех људи, али не бивају услишени. There they cry, but none giveth answer, because of the pride of evil men.
13 Јер Бог не слуша таштине, и Свемогући не гледа на њу. Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.
14 Акамоли кад кажеш: не видиш то. Пред њим је суд; чекај га. Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him.
15 А сада чим те гњев походи, није ништа, нити је гледао на све што си учинио; But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity:
16 Зато Јов на празно отвора уста своја, и безумно умножава ријечи. Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge.
