1 Молим вас дакле ја сужањ у Господу, да се владате као што приликује вашему звању у које сте позвани, I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 Са сваком понизношћу и кротошћу, с трпљењем, трпећи један другога у љубави, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Старајући се држати јединство Духа у свези мира; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4 Једно тијело, један дух, као што сте и позвани у једном наду звања својега. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 Један Господ, једна вјера, једно крштење, One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 Један Бог и отац свију, који је над свима, и кроза све, и у свима нама. One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 А свакоме се од нас даде благодат по мјери дара Христова. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Зато говори: изишавши на висину заплијенио си плијен, и даде даре људима. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 А што изиђе, шта је, осим да и сиђе у најдоња мјеста земље? (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 Који сиђе то је онај који и изиђе више свију небеса да испуни све. He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 И он је дао једне апостоле, а једне пророке, а једне јеванђелисте, а једне пастире и учитеље, And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 Да се свети приправе за дјело службе, на сазидање тијела Христова; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13 Докле достигнемо сви у јединство вјере и познање сина Божијега, у човјека савршена, у мјеру раста висине Христове; Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 Да не будемо више мала дјеца, коју љуља и заноси сваки вјетар науке, у лажи човјечијој, путем пријеваре; That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 Него владајући се по истини у љубави да у свему узрастемо у ономе који је глава, Христос. But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 Из којега је све тијело састављено и склопљено свакијем зглавком, да једно другоме помаже добро по мјери свакога уда, и чини да расте тијело на поправљање самога себе у љубави. From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
17 Ово дакле говорим и свједочим у Господу да више не ходите као што ходе и остали незнабошци у празности ума својега, This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Који имају смисао тамом покривен, и удаљени су од живота Божијега за незнање које је у њима, за окамењење срца својијех; Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Који оставивши поштење предадоше се бесрамности, на чињење сваке нечистоте и лакомства. Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 Али ви тако не познасте Христа; But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 Јер га чусте и у њему се научисте, као што је истина у Исусу, If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 Да одбаците, по првоме живљењу, старога човјека, који се распада у жељама преварљивијем; That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 И да се обновите духом ума својега, And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 И обучете у новога човјека, који је саздан по Богу у правди и у светињи истине. And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25 Зато одбаците лаж, и говорите истину сваки са својијем ближњијем; јер смо уди један другоме. Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26 Гњевите се и не гријешите; сунце да не зађе у гњеву вашему. Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27 Нити дајите мјеста ђаволу. Neither give place to the devil.
28 Који је крао више да не краде, него још да се труди, чинећи добро рукама својима да има шта давати потребноме. Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29 Никаква рђава ријеч да не излази из уста вашијех, него само што је добро за напредовање вјере, да да благодат онима који слушају. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30 И не ожалошћавајте светога Духа Божијега, којијем сте запечаћени за дан избављења. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31 Свака горчина, и гњев, и љутина, и вика, и хула, да се узме од вас, са сваком пакошћу. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32 А будите један другоме благи, милостиви, праштајући један другоме, као што је и Бог у Христу опростио вама. And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
