1 Та добар је Бог Израиљу, онима који су чиста срца. Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
2 А ноге моје умало не зађоше, умало не попузнуше стопала моја, But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
3 Јер се расрдих на безумнике видећи како безбожници добро живе. For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Јер не знају за невољу до саме смрти, и тијело је њихово претило. For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
5 На пословима човјечијим нема их, и не муче се с другим људима. They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
6 Тога ради опточени су охолошћу као огрлицом, и обучени у обијест као у стајаће рухо. Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
7 Од дебљине избуљено им је око, срце пуно клапе. Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
8 Потсмијевају се, пакосно говоре о насиљу, охоло говоре. They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
9 Уста своја дижу у небо, и земљу пролази језик њихов. They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
10 И зато се онамо навраћају неки из народа његова, и пију воду из пуна извора. Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
11 И говоре: како ће разабрати Бог? зар вишњи зна? And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
12 Па ето, ови безбожници срећни на свијету умножавају богатство. Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
13 Зар дакле узалуд чистим срце своје, и умивам безазленошћу руке своје, Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
14 Допадам рана сваки дан, и муке свако јутро? For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
15 Кад бих казао: говорићу као и они, изневјерио бих род синова твојих. If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
16 И тако стадох размишљати да бих ово разумио; али то бјеше тешко у очима мојима. When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
17 Док најпослије уђох у светињу Божију, и дознах крај њихов. Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
18 Та на клизавом мјесту поставио си их, и бацаш их у пропаст! Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
19 Како зачас пропадају, гину, нестаје их од ненадне страхоте! How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
20 Као сан, кад се човјек пробуди, тако пробудивши их, Господе, у ништа обраћаш утвару њихову. As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Кад кипљаше срце моје и растрзах се у себи, Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
22 Тада бијах незналица и не разумијевах; као живинче бијах пред тобом. So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
23 Али сам свагда код тебе, ти ме држиш за десну руку. Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 По својој вољи водиш ме, и послије ћеш ме одвести у славу. Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Кога имам на небу? и с тобом ничега нећу на земљи. Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 Чезне за тобом тијело моје и срце моје; Бог је град срца мојега и дио мој довијека. My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
27 Јер ево који отступише од тебе, гину; ти истребљаваш свакога који чини прељубу остављајући тебе. For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
28 А мени је добро бити близу Бога. На Господа полажем надање своје, и казиваћу сва чудеса твоја. But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.
