| 1 | И тако сада вама је ова заповијест, свештеници. | And now, O ye priests, this commandment is for you. |
| 2 | Ако не послушате и не ставите у срце да дате славу имену мојему, вели Господ над војскама, тада ћу пустити на вас проклетство и проклећу благослове ваше; и проклех их, јер не стављате у срце. | If ye will not hear, and if ye will not lay it to heart, to give glory unto my name, saith the Lord of hosts, I will even send a curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings: yea, I have cursed them already, because ye do not lay it to heart. |
| 3 | Ево ја ћу вам покварити усјев, и бацићу вам балегу у лице, балегу празника ваших, да вас однесе са собом. | Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it. |
| 4 | И познаћете да сам вам ја послао ову заповијест да би био мој завјет с Левијем, вели Господ над војскама. | And ye shall know that I have sent this commandment unto you, that my covenant might be with Levi, saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 5 | Завјет мој за живот и мир бјеше с њим, и дадох му то за страх, јер ме се бојаше и имена се мојега страшаше. | My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. |
| 6 | Закон истинити бјеше у устима његовијем, и безакоње се не нађе на уснама његовијем; у миру и право иде са мном и многе одврати од безакоња. | The law of truth was in his mouth, and iniquity was not found in his lips: he walked with me in peace and equity, and did turn many away from iniquity. |
| 7 | Јер усне свештеникове треба да чувају знање и закон да се тражи из његовијех уста, јер је анђео Господа над војскама. | For the priest’s lips should keep knowledge, and they should seek the law at his mouth: for he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts. |
| 8 | Али ви зађосте с пута, и учинисте те се многи спотакоше о закон, покваристе завјет Левијев, вели Господ над војскама. | But ye are departed out of the way; ye have caused many to stumble at the law; ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, saith the Lord of hosts. |
| 9 | Зато и ја вас учиних презреним и поништеним у свега народа, као што се ви не држите мојих путова и у закону гледате ко је ко. | Therefore have I also made you contemptible and base before all the people, according as ye have not kept my ways, but have been partial in the law. |
| 10 | Није ли нам свјема један отац? није ли нас један Бог створио? зашто невјеру чинимо један другоме скврнећи завјет отаца својих? | Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us? why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers? |
| 11 | Јуда чини невјеру, и гад се чини у Израиљу и у Јерусалиму; јер скврни Јуда светињу Господњу, коју би му ваљало љубити, женећи се кћерју туђега бога. | Judah hath dealt treacherously, and an abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath profaned the holiness of the Lord which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god. |
| 12 | Господ ће истријебити из шатора Јаковљевијех човјека који чини тако, који стражи и који одговара, и који приноси принос Господу над војскама. | The Lord will cut off the man that doeth this, the master and the scholar, out of the tabernacles of Jacob, and him that offereth an offering unto the Lord of hosts. |
| 13 | Још и ово чините: покривате сузама олтар Господњи, плачем и уздасима; зато не гледа више на принос, нити му је драго примити што из ваших руку. | And this have ye done again, covering the altar of the Lord with tears, with weeping, and with crying out, insomuch that he regardeth not the offering any more, or receiveth it with good will at your hand. |
| 14 | А ви говорите: зашто? Зато што је Господ свједок између тебе и жене младости твоје, којој ти чиниш невјеру, а она ти је другарица и жена, с којом си у вјери. | Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the Lord hath been witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant. |
| 15 | Јер није ли учинио једно, ако и имаше још више духа? а зашто једно? да тражи сјеме Божије; зато чувајте дух свој, и жени младости своје не чините невјере. | And did not he make one? Yet had he the residue of the spirit. And wherefore one? That he might seek a godly seed. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously against the wife of his youth. |
| 16 | Јер Господ Бог Израиљев вели да мрзи на пуштање, јер таки покрива насиље плаштем својим, говори Господ над војскама; зато чувајте дух свој да не чините невјере. | For the Lord, the God of Israel, saith that he hateth putting away: for one covereth violence with his garment, saith the Lord of hosts: therefore take heed to your spirit, that ye deal not treacherously. |
| 17 | Досађујете Господу ријечима својим, и говорите: у чем му досађујемо? У том што говорите: ко год чини зло, по вољи је Господу, и таки су му мили; или: гдје је Бог који суди? | Ye have wearied the Lord with your words. Yet ye say, Wherein have we wearied him? When ye say, Every one that doeth evil is good in the sight of the Lord, and he delighteth in them; or, Where is the God of judgment? |
