1 А Дух разговијетно говори да ће у пошљедња времена отступити неки од вјере слушајући лажне духове и науке ђаволске, Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2 У лицемјерју лажа, жигосанијех на својој савјести, Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3 Који забрањују женити се, и заповиједају уздржавати се од јела која Бог створи за јело са захвалношћу вјернима и онима који познаше истину. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4 Јер је свако створење Божије добро и ништа није на одмет кад се прима са захвалношћу. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5 Јер се освећује ријечју Божијом и молитвом. For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6 Ово све казујући браћи бићеш добар слуга Исуса Христа, одгајен ријечима вјере и добром науком коју си примио. If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7 А поганијех и бапскијех гаталица клони се; а обучавај се у побожности. But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8 Јер тјелесно обучавање мало је корисно, а побожност је корисна за свашто, имајући обећање живота садашњега и онога који иде. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9 Ово је истинита ријеч и достојна свакога примања. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10 Јер се зато и трудимо и бивамо срамотни, јер се уздамо у Бога жива, који је спаситељ свима људима, а особито вјернима. For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11 Ово заповиједај и учи. These things command and teach.
12 Нико да не постане немарљив за твоју младост; него буди углед вјернима у ријечи, у живљењу, у љубави, у духу, у вјери, у чистоти. Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13 Докле дођем пази на читање, утјешавање и учење. Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14 Не пусти у немар дар у себи који ти је дан по пророштву метнувши старјешине руке на тебе. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15 У овом се поучавај, у овом стој, да се напредак твој покаже у свему. Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16 Пази на себе и на науку, и стој у томе; јер ово чинећи спашћеш и самога себе и оне који те слушају. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
