1	Der Geist aber sagt deutlich, daß in spätern Zeiten etliche vom Glauben abfallen und verführerischen Geistern und Lehren der Dämonen anhangen werden,	Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
2	durch die Heuchelei von Lügenrednern, die in ihrem eigenen Gewissen gebrandmarkt sind,	Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;
3	die verbieten, zu heiraten und Speisen zu genießen, welche doch Gott geschaffen hat, damit sie von den Gläubigen und denen, welche die Wahrheit erkennen, mit Danksagung gebraucht werden.	Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
4	Denn alles, was Gott geschaffen hat, ist gut, und nichts ist verwerflich, wenn es mit Danksagung genossen wird;	For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
5	denn es wird geheiligt durch Gottes Wort und Gebet.	For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
6	Wenn du den Brüdern solches vorhältst, wirst du ein guter Diener Jesu Christi sein, genährt mit den Worten des Glaubens und der guten Lehre, welcher du nachgefolgt bist.	If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
7	Der unheiligen Altweiberfabeln aber entschlage dich; dagegen übe dich in der Gottseligkeit!	But refuse profane and old wives’ fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.
8	Denn die leibliche Übung ist zu wenigem nütze, die Gottseligkeit aber ist zu allen Dingen nütze, da sie die Verheißung dieses und des zukünftigen Lebens hat.	For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
9	Glaubwürdig ist das Wort und aller Annahme wert;	This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation.
10	denn dafür arbeiten wir auch und werden geschmäht, daß wir unsre Hoffnung auf den lebendigen Gott gesetzt haben, welcher aller Menschen Retter ist, allermeist der Gläubigen.	For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
11	Solches gebiete und lehre!	These things command and teach.
12	Niemand verachte deine Jugend, sondern werde ein Vorbild den Gläubigen im Wort, im Wandel, in der Liebe, im Geist, im Glauben, in der Keuschheit!	Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
13	Bis ich komme, halte an mit Vorlesen, mit Ermahnen, mit Lehren.	Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
14	Vernachlässige die Gabe nicht, die du hast, die dir durch Weissagung unter Handauflegung der Ältesten verliehen wurde!	Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.
15	Dies laß dein Anliegen sein, damit gib dich ab, auf daß dein Fortschreiten in allen Dingen offenbar sei!	Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
16	Habe acht auf dich selbst und auf die Lehre; bleibe dabei! Denn wenn du solches tust, wirst du sowohl dich selbst retten als auch die, welche dich hören.	Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.
