1	시내 산에서 언약을 맺다 주께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 아론과 나답과 아비후와 이스라엘의 장로 일흔 명과 함께 나 주에게로 올라와, 멀찍이 엎드려서 나를 경배하여라.	And he said unto Moses, Come up unto the Lord, thou, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel; and worship ye afar off.
2	모세 너 혼자서만 주에게로 가까이 나아오고, 그들이 나에게 가까이 와서는 안 된다. 백성은 너와 함께 올라오지 않게 하여라."	And Moses alone shall come near the Lord: but they shall not come nigh; neither shall the people go up with him.
3	모세가 내려와서, 백성에게 주의 말씀과 법규를 모두 전하니, 온 백성이 한 목소리로 주께서 명하신 모든 말씀을 지키겠다고 대답하였다.	And Moses came and told the people all the words of the Lord, and all the judgments: and all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which the Lord hath said will we do.
4	모세는 주의 모든 말씀을 기록하고, 아침 일찍 일어나서, 산기슭에 제단을 쌓고, 이스라엘의 열두 지파를 따라 기둥 열두 개를 세웠다.	And Moses wrote all the words of the Lord, and rose up early in the morning, and builded an altar under the hill, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of Israel.
5	그는 이스라엘 자손들 가운데서 젊은이들을 보내어, 수송아지들을 잡아 주께 번제를 올리게 하고, 화목제물을 드리게 하였다.	And he sent young men of the children of Israel, which offered burnt offerings, and sacrificed peace offerings of oxen unto the Lord.
6	모세는 그 피의 절반은 그릇에 담아 놓고, 나머지 절반은 제단에 뿌렸다.	And Moses took half of the blood, and put it in basons; and half of the blood he sprinkled on the altar.
7	그리고 그가 '언약의 책'을 들고 백성에게 낭독하니, 그들은 "주께서 명하신 모든 말씀을 받들어 지키겠다"고 말하였다.	And he took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the Lord hath said will we do, and be obedient.
8	모세는 피를 가져다가 백성에게 뿌리며 말하였다. "보아라, 이것은 주께서 이 모든 말씀을 따라, 너희에게 세우신 언약의 피다."	And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the Lord hath made with you concerning all these words.
9	모세는 아론과 나답과 아비후와 이스라엘의 장로 일흔 명과 함께 올라갔다.	Then went up Moses, and Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel:
10	거기에서, 그들이 이스라엘의 하나님을 보니, 그 발 아래에는 청옥을 깔아 놓은 것 같으며, 그 맑기가 하늘과 꼭 같았다.	And they saw the God of Israel: and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness.
11	주께서는 이스라엘의 지도자들을 손으로 치지 않으셨으므로, 그들이 하나님을 뵈오며 먹고 마셨다.	And upon the nobles of the children of Israel he laid not his hand: also they saw God, and did eat and drink.
12	시내 산에서 사십 일을 보내다 주께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다. "너는 내가 있는 산으로 올라와서, 여기에서 기다려라. 그러면 내가, 백성을 가르치려고 몸소 돌판에 기록한 율법과 계명을 너에게 주겠다."	And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
13	모세가 일어나서, 자기의 부관 여호수아와 함께 하나님의 산으로 올라갔다.	And Moses rose up, and his minister Joshua: and Moses went up into the mount of God.
14	올라가기에 앞서, 모세는 장로들에게 일러 두었다. "우리가 여러분에게 돌아올 때까지 여기에서 우리를 기다리고 있으시오. 아론과 훌이 여러분과 함께 있을 것이니, 문제가 있는 사람은 누구든지 그들에게로 가게 하시오."	And he said unto the elders, Tarry ye here for us, until we come again unto you: and, behold, Aaron and Hur are with you: if any man have any matters to do, let him come unto them.
15	모세가 산에 오르니, 구름이 산을 덮었다.	And Moses went up into the mount, and a cloud covered the mount.
16	주의 영광이 시내 산 위에 머무르고, 엿새 동안 구름이 산을 뒤덮었다. 이렛날, 주께서 구름 가운데서 모세를 부르셨다.	And the glory of the Lord abode upon mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days: and the seventh day he called unto Moses out of the midst of the cloud.
17	이스라엘 자손의 눈에는 주의 영광이, 마치 산꼭대기에서 타오르는 불처럼 보였다.	And the sight of the glory of the Lord was like devouring fire on the top of the mount in the eyes of the children of Israel.
18	모세는 구름 가운데를 지나고, 산 위로 올라가서, 밤낮 사십 일을 그 산에 머물렀다.	And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and gat him up into the mount: and Moses was in the mount forty days and forty nights.
