1	바벨 탑 처음에 세상에는 언어가 하나뿐이어서, 모두가 같은 말을 썼다.	And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2	사람들이 동쪽에서 이동하여 오다가, 시날 땅 한 들판에 이르러서, 거기에 자리를 잡았다.	And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3	그들은 서로 말하였다. "자, 벽돌을 빚어서, 단단히 구워내자." 사람들은 돌 대신에 벽돌을 쓰고, 흙 대신에 역청을 썼다.	And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4	그들은 또 말하였다. "자, 도시를 세우고, 그 안에 탑을 쌓고서, 탑 꼭대기가 하늘에 닿게 하여, 우리의 이름을 날리고, 온 땅 위에 흩어지지 않게 하자."	And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5	주께서는, 사람들이 짓고 있는 도시와 탑을 보려고 내려오셨다.	And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6	주께서 말씀하셨다. "보아라, 만일 사람들이 같은 말을 쓰는 한 백성으로서, 이렇게 이런 일을 하기 시작하였으니, 이제 그들은, 하고자 하는 것은 무엇이든지, 하지 못할 일이 없을 것이다.	And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7	자, 우리가 내려가서, 그들이 거기에서 하는 말을 뒤섞어서, 그들이 서로 알아듣지 못하게 하자."	Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
8	주께서 거기에서 그들을 온 땅으로 흩으셨다. 그래서 그들은 도시 세우는 일을 그만두었다.	So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9	주께서 거기에서 온 세상의 말을 뒤섞으셨다고 하여, 사람들은 그 곳의 이름을 바벨이라고 한다. 주께서 거기에서 사람들을 온 땅에 흩으셨다.	Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
10	셈의 자손(대상 1:24-27) 셈의 족보는 이러하다. 셈은, 홍수가 끝난 지 이 년 뒤, 백 살이 되었을 때에 아르박삿을 낳았다.	These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
11	셈은 아르박삿을 낳은 뒤에, 오백 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
12	아르박삿은 서른다섯 살에 셀라를 낳았다.	And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
13	아르박삿은 셀라를 낳은 뒤에, 사백삼 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
14	셀라는 서른 살에 에벨을 낳았다.	And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
15	셀라는 에벨을 낳은 뒤에, 사백삼 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
16	에벨은 서른네 살에 벨렉을 낳았다.	And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
17	에벨은 벨렉을 낳은 뒤에, 사백삼십 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
18	벨렉은 서른 살에 르우를 낳았다.	And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
19	벨렉은 르우를 낳은 뒤에, 이백구 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
20	르우는 서른두 살에 스룩을 낳았다.	And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
21	르우는 스룩을 낳은 뒤에, 이백칠 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
22	스룩은 서른 살에 나홀을 낳았다.	And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
23	스룩은 나홀을 낳은 뒤에, 이백 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
24	나홀은 스물아홉 살에 데라를 낳았다.	And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
25	나홀은 데라를 낳은 뒤에, 백십구 년을 더 살면서, 아들딸을 낳았다.	And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
26	데라는 일흔 살에 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳았다.	And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27	데라의 자손 데라의 족보는 이러하다. 데라는 아브람과 나홀과 하란을 낳았다. 하란은 롯을 낳았다.	Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28	그러나 하란은, 그가 태어난 땅, 바빌로니아의 우르에서 아버지보다 먼저 죽었다.	And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29	아브람과 나홀이 아내를 맞아들였다. 아브람의 아내의 이름은 사래이고, 나홀의 아내의 이름은 밀가이다. 하란은 밀가와 이스가의 아버지이다.	And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30	사래는 임신을 하지 못하여서, 자식이 없었다.	But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31	데라는, 아들 아브람과, 하란에게서 난 손자 롯과, 아들 아브람의 아내인 며느리 사래를 데리고, 가나안 땅으로 오려고 바빌로니아의 우르를 떠나서, 하란에 이르렀다. 그는 거기에다가 자리를 잡고 살았다.	And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32	데라는 이백오 년을 살다가, 하란에서 죽었다.	And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
