1	예레미야와 언약 이것은 주께서 예레미야에게 하신 말씀이다.	The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying,
2	"이 언약의 말을 듣고, 유다 사람과 예루살렘 주민에게 선포하여라.	Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
3	그들에게 이렇게 전하여라. 나 주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말한다. '이 언약의 말에 순종하지 않는 사람은 저주를 받을 것이다.	And say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel; Cursed be the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
4	이 언약은, 쇠를 녹이는 용광로와 같은 이집트 땅에서 너희 조상을 데리고 나올 때에, 내가 그들에게 지키라고 명한 것이다. 내가 그들에게 이르기를, 나에게 순종하고, 내가 명하는 모든 것을 실천하면 그들은 나의 백성이 되고, 나는 그들의 하나님이 되어서,	Which I commanded your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
5	내가 그들의 조상에게 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅을 주겠다고 맹세한 약속을 지키겠다고 하여, 오늘에 이르렀다.'" 주께서 이렇게 말씀하실 때에, 나는 "주님, 참으로 그렇습니다" 하고 대답하였다.	That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O Lord.
6	그런 다음에, 주께서 나에게 또 말씀하셨다. "너는 이 모든 말을 유다의 여러 성읍과 예루살렘의 거리에서 외쳐라. '너희는 이 언약의 말씀을 듣고 실천하여라.	Then the Lord said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
7	이것은 내가 너희 조상을 이집트 땅에서 데리고 나온 날에 확실히 경고하였고, 나에게 순종하라는 것을 오늘에 이르기까지 거듭거듭 경고하였기 때문이다.	For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
8	그러나 그들은 듣지도 않고, 귀도 기울이지 않았다. 오히려 그들은 자기들의 악한 마음에서 나오는 고집대로 살았다. 그래서 나는 지키라고 명한 이 모든 언약의 말씀대로 그들에게 벌을 내린 것이다. 그런데도 그들은 지키지 않았다.'"	Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.
9	주께서 또 나에게 말씀하셨다. "유다 사람과 예루살렘 주민이 나를 대적하여 음모를 꾸미고 있다.	And the Lord said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
10	그들도 자기들의 옛 조상이 저지른 죄악으로 되돌아가고 말았다. 그 조상이 나의 말을 들으려 하지 않고, 다른 신들을 쫓아다니면서 섬기더니, 이제는 이스라엘 백성과 유다 백성도, 내가 그들의 조상과 맺은 언약을 파기하였다.	They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
11	그러므로 나 주가 이렇게 말한다. 보아라, 그들이 벗어날 수 없는 재앙을, 내가 그들에게 내리겠다. 그들이 나에게 도움을 간청해도, 내가 응답하지 않겠다.	Therefore thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.
12	그 때에 유다의 여러 성읍에 사는 사람과 예루살렘 주민은, 분향하며 섬기던 신들을 찾아가서 도움을 간청하겠지만, 그 재앙의 날에 그 신들은 절대로 그들을 구하여 주지 못할 것이다. 전혀 도와줄 수 없을 것이다.	Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.
13	유다 사람들아, 너희가 섬기는 신들은 너희가 사는 성읍 수만큼이나 많고, 너희가 바알에게 분향하려고 세운 그 부끄러운 제단은 예루살렘의 골목길 수만큼이나 많구나!	For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to that shameful thing, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.
14	예레미야야, 너는 이런 백성을 보살펴 달라고 나에게 기도하지 말아라. 너는, 그들을 도와 달라고 나에게 호소하거나 간구하지 말아라. 그들이 재앙을 당할 때에, 네가 나에게 부르짖어도, 내가 들어주지 않겠다."	Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.
15	"내가 사랑하는 유다가 악한 음모나 꾸미더니, 내 성전에 들어와서 어쩌자는 것이냐? 살진 짐승을 희생제물로 바친다고 해서, 재난을 피할 수 있겠느냐? 구원의 기쁨을 누릴 수 있겠느냐?	What hath my beloved to do in mine house, seeing she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
16	유다야, 한때에 나 주도 너를 '잎이 무성하고 열매가 많이 달린 올리브 나무'라고 불렀으나, 이제는 요란한 천둥소리와 함께 내가 그 잎을 불로 사르고, 그 가지를 부러뜨리겠다."	The Lord called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
17	이스라엘과 유다를 나무처럼 심어 주신 만군의 주께서, 너희에게 재앙을 선포하셨다. "이스라엘 백성과 유다 백성은, 내 마음을 상하게 하려고 바알에게 분향하였으니, 저지른 그 죄악 때문에 그들에게 재앙을 내리겠다."	For the Lord of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.
18	아나돗 사람들의 예레미야 암살 계획 주께서 나에게 알려 주셔서, 내가 깨닫게 되었습니다. 그 때에 주께서 그들의 모든 행실을 나에게 보여 주셨습니다.	And the Lord hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings.
19	나는 도살장으로 끌려가는 순한 어린 양과 같았습니다. 사람들이 나를 해치려고 "저 나무를, 열매가 달린 그대로 찍어 버리자. 사람 사는 세상에서 없애 버리자. 그의 이름을 다시는 기억하지 못하게 하자" 하면서 음모를 꾸미고 있는 줄을 전혀 몰랐습니다.	But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
20	그러나 만군의 주님, 주님은 의로운 재판관이시요, 사람의 생각과 마음을 감찰하시는 분이십니다. 나의 억울한 사정을 주께 아뢰었으니, 주께서 나의 원수를 그들에게 갚아 주십시오. 내가 그것을 보기를 원합니다.	But, O Lord of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
21	그러므로 주께서 아나돗 사람들을 두고 이렇게 말씀하신다. "그들이 너의 목숨을 노려서 이르기를 '너는 주의 이름으로 예언하지 말아라. 주의 이름으로 예언을 계속하다가는 우리 손에 죽을 줄 알아라' 한다.	Therefore thus saith the Lord of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the Lord, that thou die not by our hand:
22	그러므로 나 만군의 주가 이렇게 말한다. 내가 그들을 벌할 것이니, 그들의 장정들은 칼에 찔려 죽고, 그들의 아들과 딸들은 굶어 죽을 것이다.	Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
23	내가 아나돗 사람들을 벌할 때가 되어 그들에게 재앙을 내리면, 그들 가운데서 살아 남을 자가 하나도 없을 것이다."	And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
