1	요시야가 이방 예배를 없애다(대하 34:3-7, 29-33) 왕이 사람을 보내어, 유다와 예루살렘의 모든 장로를 소집하였다.	And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2	왕이 주의 성전에 올라갈 때에, 유다의 모든 백성과 예루살렘의 모든 주민과 제사장들과 예언자들과, 어른으로부터 아이에 이르기까지, 모든 백성이 그와 함께 성전으로 올라갔다. 그 때에 왕은, 주의 성전에서 발견된 언약책에 적힌 모든 말씀을, 크게 읽어서 사람들에게 들려 주도록 하였다.	And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord.
3	왕은 기둥 곁에 서서, 주님을 따를 것과, 온 마음과 목숨을 다 바쳐 그의 계명과 법도와 율례를 지킬 것과, 이 책에 적힌 언약의 말씀을 지킬 것을 맹세하는 언약을, 주 앞에서 세웠다. 온 백성도 그 언약에 동참하였다.	And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
4	왕은 힐기야 대제사장과 부제사장들과 문지기들에게, 바알과 아세라와 하늘의 별을 섬기려고 하여 만든 기구들을, 주의 성전으로부터 밖으로 내놓도록 명령하였다. 그리고 그는, 예루살렘 바깥 기드론 들판에서 그것들을 모두 불태우고, 그 태운 재를 베델로 옮겼다.	And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Beth–el.
5	그는 또, 유다의 역대 왕들이 유다의 성읍들과 예루살렘 주위에 있는 산당에서 분향하려고 임명한, 우상을 숭배하는 제사장들을 내쫓았다. 그리고 바알과 태양과 달과 성좌들과 하늘의 별에게 제사지내는 사람들을 모두 몰아냈다.	And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
6	그는 아세라 목상을 주의 성전에서 예루살렘 바깥 기드론 시내로 들어 내다가, 그 곳에서 불태워 가루로 만들어서, 그 가루를 일반 백성의 공동묘지 위에 뿌렸다.	And he brought out the grove from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
7	왕은 또 주의 성전에 있던 남창의 집을 깨끗이 없애었다. 이 집은 여인들이 아세라 숭배에 쓰이는 천을 짜는 집이었다.	And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
8	그는 유다의 모든 성읍으로부터 모든 제사장을 철수시켜 예루살렘으로 불러들였다. 그리고 게바로부터 브엘세바에 이르기까지, 그 제사장들이 제사하던 산당들을 모두 부정하게 하였다. 그리고 이 성읍 성주의 이름을 따서 '여호수아의 문'이라고 부르는 문이 있었는데, 그 문의 어귀에 있는 산당들, 곧 그 성문 왼쪽에 있는 산당들을 모두 헐어 버렸다.	And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beer–sheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.
9	산당의 제사장들은 예루살렘에 있는 주의 제단에 올라가지 못하게 하였으나, 누룩이 들지 않은 빵은 다른 제사장들과 함께 나누어 먹게 하였다.	Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
10	그는 또 힌놈의 아들 골짜기에 있는 도벳을 속되게 하여, 어떤 사람도 자녀들을 몰록에게 불태워 바치는 일을 하지 못하게 하였다.	And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
11	또 그는, 유다의 왕들이 주의 성전 어귀, 곧 나단멜렉 내시의 집 옆에 있는, 태양신을 섬기려고 하여 만든 말의 동상을 헐어 버리고, 태양수레도 불태워 버렸다.	And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathan–melech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
12	또 그는, 유다 왕들이 만든 아하스의 다락방 옥상에 세운 제단들과, 므낫세가 주의 성전 안팎 뜰에 세운 제단들을 모두 제거해서 부순 뒤에, 가루로 만들어 기드론 시내에 뿌렸다.	And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
13	또 그는 이스라엘 왕 솔로몬이, 시돈 사람들의 우상인 아스다롯과 모압 사람들의 우상인 그모스와 암몬 사람들의 혐오스러운 밀곰을 섬기려고, 예루살렘 정면 '멸망의 산' 오른쪽에 지었던 산당들도 모두 허물었다.	And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
14	그리고 석상들은 깨뜨리고, 아세라 목상들은 토막토막 자르고, 그 곳을 죽은 사람의 뼈로 가득 채웠다.	And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
15	왕은 또 느밧의 아들 여로보암이 베델에다 만든 제단, 곧 이스라엘로 죄를 짓게 한 그 제단과 산당도 헐었다. 그는 산당을 불태워 가루로 만들었고, 아세라 목상도 불태웠다.	Moreover the altar that was at Beth–el, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
16	요시야는 또 산 위에 무덤이 있는 것을 보고, 사람을 보내어 그 무덤 속의 뼈들을 꺼내어서, 제단 위에 모아 놓고 불태웠다. 그렇게 하여 그 제단들을 부정하게 만들었다. 그래서 한때 하나님의 사람이 이 일을 두고 예언한 주의 말씀대로 되었다.	And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
17	요시야가 물었다. "저기 보이는 저 비석은 무엇이냐?" 그 성읍의 백성이 그에게 대답하였다. "유다에서 온 어느 하나님의 사람의 무덤입니다. 그는 베델의 제단에 관하여 임금님께서 이런 일들을 하실 것이라고 미리 예언하였던 분입니다."	Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Beth–el.
18	왕이 말하였다. "그 무덤은 그대로 두어라. 그리고 아무도 그의 유해를 만지지 못하게 하여라." 이렇게 하여 그들은, 그의 뼈와 사마리아에서 온 예언자의 뼈는 그대로 두었다.	And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
19	이스라엘 왕들이 사마리아 도성의 언덕마다 세워 주의 분노를 돋우었던 모든 산당을, 요시야가 이렇게 헐었다. 그는 베델에서 한 것처럼 하였다.	And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Beth–el.
20	더욱이 그는 그 곳 산당에 있는 제사장들을 모두 제단 위에서 죽이고, 사람의 뼈를 함께 그 위에서 태운 뒤에, 예루살렘으로 돌아갔다.	And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
21	요시야 왕이 유월절을 지키다(대하 35:1-19) 왕이 온 백성에게 명령을 내렸다. "이 언약책에 기록된 대로, 주 너희의 하나님께 감사드리는 유월절을 준비하여라."	And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the Lord your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
22	사사들이 이스라엘을 다스리던 시대로부터 이스라엘과 유다 왕들의 시대에 이르기까지, 어느 시대에도 이와 같은 유월절을 지킨 일은 없었다.	Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23	요시야 왕 제 십팔년에 이르러서야, 비로소 예루살렘에서 주를 기리는 유월절을 지켰다.	But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the Lord in Jerusalem.
24	요시야의 나머지 개혁 요시야는 대제사장 힐기야가 주의 성전에서 발견한 책에 기록된 율법의 말씀을 지키려고, 유다 땅과 예루살렘에서 신접한 자와 박수와 드라빔과 우상과 모든 혐오스러운 것들을, 눈에 보이는 대로 다 없애 버렸다.	Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.
25	이와 같이 마음을 다 기울이고 생명을 다하고 힘을 다 기울여 모세의 율법을 지키며 주께로 돌이킨 왕은, 이전에도 없었고 그 뒤로도 다시 나타나지 않았다.	And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
26	그러나 주께서는 유다에게 쏟으시려던 그 불타는 진노를 거두어들이시지는 않으셨다. 므낫세가 주님을 너무나도 격노하시게 하였기 때문이다.	Notwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.
27	그래서 주께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "이스라엘을 내가 외면하였듯이, 유다도 내가 외면할 것이요, 내가 선택한 도성 예루살렘과 나의 이름을 두겠다고 말한 그 성전조차도, 내가 버리겠다."	And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28	요시야 통치의 끝(대하 35:20-36:1) 요시야의 나머지 행적과 그가 한 모든 일은 '유다 왕 역대지략'에 기록되어 있다.	Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29	그가 다스리고 있던 때에, 이집트의 바로 느고 왕이 앗시리아 왕을 도우려고 유프라테스 강 쪽으로 올라갔다. 요시야 왕이 그를 맞아 싸우려고 므깃도로 올라갔으나, 바로 느고에게 죽고 말았다.	In his days Pharaoh–nechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
30	요시야의 신하들은 죽은 왕을 병거에 실어 므깃도에서 예루살렘으로 옮겨 와서, 그의 무덤에 안장하였다. 그 땅의 백성이 요시야의 아들 여호아하스를 데려다가, 그에게 기름을 붓고, 아버지의 뒤를 잇게 하였다.	And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s stead.
31	유다 왕 여호아하스(대하 36:2-4) 여호아하스는 왕이 되었을 때에, 스물세 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 석 달 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 하무달은 립나 출신인 예레미야의 딸이다.	Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32	여호아하스는 조상의 악한 행위를 본받아, 주께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였다.	And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
33	이집트의 바로 느고 왕이 그를 하맛 땅에 있는 립나에서 사로잡아, 예루살렘에서 다스리지 못하게 하고, 유다가 이집트에 은 백 달란트와 금 한 달란트를 조공으로 바치게 하였다.	And Pharaoh–nechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
34	또 바로 느고 왕은 요시야를 대신하여 요시야의 아들 엘리아김을 왕으로 삼고, 그의 이름을 여호야김으로 바꾸게 하였다. 여호아하스는 이집트로 끌려가, 그 곳에서 죽었다.	And Pharaoh–nechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
35	유다 왕 여호야김(대하 36:5-8) 여호야김은 바로의 요구대로 그에게 은과 금을 주었다. 그는 바로의 명령대로 은을 주려고 백성에게 세금을 부과하였고, 백성들은 각자의 재산 정도에 따라 배정된 액수대로, 바로 느고에게 줄 은과 금을 내놓아야 하였다.	And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaoh–nechoh.
36	여호야김은 왕이 되었을 때에, 스물다섯 살이었다. 예루살렘에서 열한 해 동안 다스렸다. 그의 어머니 스비다는 루마 출신 브다야의 딸이다.	Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
37	그는 조상의 악한 행위를 본받아, 주께서 보시기에 악한 일을 하였다.	And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
