1	유다 왕 요시야(왕하 22:1-2) 요시야가 왕이 되었을 때에, 그는 여덟 살이었다. 그는 예루살렘에서 서른한 해 동안 다스렸다.	Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
2	그는, 주께서 보시기에 옳은 일을 하였고, 그의 조상 다윗의 길을 본받아서, 오른쪽으로나 왼쪽으로 곁길로 벗어나지 않았다.	And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.
3	종교 개혁의 첫 단계 요시야는 왕이 된 지 여덟째 해에, 아직도 매우 어린 나이에, 조상 다윗의 하나님을 찾기 시작하였다. 그의 통치 십이년이 되는 해에는, 산당과 아세라 목상들과 아로새긴 우상들과 부어 만든 우상들을 없애고, 유다와 예루살렘을 깨끗하게 하였다.	For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
4	요시야의 지시로, 사람들은 바알 신들을 섬기는 제단들을 헐었다. 요시야는 제단 위에 있는 분향단들도 부수게 하였다. 그는 또한 아세라 목상들과 아로새긴 우상들과 부어 만든 우상들을 빻아, 가루로 만들어서, 그 제단에서 제사를 드리던 자들의 무덤에 뿌리고,	And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strowed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.
5	제사장들의 뼈를 제단 위에 불살라서, 유다와 예루살렘을 깨끗하게 하였다.	And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
6	그는 같은 일을, 므낫세와 에브라임과 시므온 지역과, 저 멀리 사방이 다 폐허가 된 납달리 지역에 이르기까지, 직접 가서 행하였다.	And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
7	그는 제단들을 헐고, 아세라 목상들과 아로새긴 우상들을 빻아 가루로 만들고, 온 이스라엘 땅에 있는 분향단도 모두 부수어 버리고 나서야, 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다.	And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
8	율법서의 발견(왕하 22:3-20) 요시야는 나라와 성전을 깨끗하게 한 뒤에, 통치한 지 열여덟째 해가 되는 때에, 아살랴의 아들 사반과 마아세야 성주와 요아하스의 아들 요아 서기관을 보내서, 주 그의 하나님의 성전을 수리하게 하였다.	Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the Lord his God.
9	이 세 사람은 힐기야 대제사장에게 가서, 하나님의 성전에 들어온 돈을 그에게 건네 주었다. 그 돈은, 므낫세와 에브라임과 북 이스라엘의 나머지 지역에 사는 백성과 유다와 베냐민의 모든 백성과 예루살렘 주민에게서 거두어들인 것으로서, 성전 문을 지키는 레위 사람들이 모아 둔 것이었다.	And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
10	그들은 이 돈을 주의 성전 수리를 맡은 이들에게 맡겼고, 그들은 또 그 돈을 주의 성전 수리를 직접 맡아 건축하는 이들에게 주어서, 성전을 수리하게 하였다.	And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the Lord, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the Lord, to repair and amend the house:
11	그들은 그 돈을 목수와 돌 쌓는 이들에게도 맡겨서, 채석한 돌과 도리와 들보를 만들 나무를 사들여, 유다의 왕들이 폐허로 만들어 버린 건물들을 손질하게 하였다.	Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
12	그 사람들은 일을 정직하게 하였다. 그들 위에 네 명의 감독이 있었다. 모두 레위 사람들인데, 므라리 자손 가운데서는 야핫과 오바댜, 고핫 자손 가운데서는 스가랴와 무술람이 성전을 수리하는 일을 맡아 하였다. 이 레위 사람들은 모두 음악에 익숙한 사람들이었다.	And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
13	그들은 목도꾼을 감독하고, 각종 공사 책임자들을 감독하였으며, 어떤 레위 사람은 기록원과 사무원과 문지기의 일을 맡았다.	Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
14	힐기야 제사장은, 주의 성전에서 궤에 보관된 돈을 꺼내다가, 모세가 전한 주의 율법책을 발견하고,	And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the Lord, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the Lord given by Moses.
15	사반 서기관에게, 자기가 주의 성전에서 율법책을 발견하였다고 하면서, 그 책을 사반에게 주었다.	And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the Lord. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
16	사반이 그 책을 가지고 왕에게 나아가서 보고하였다. "임금님께서 종들에게 명령하신 것을 종들이 그대로 다 하였습니다.	And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.
17	또 주의 성전에 있는 돈을 다 쏟아서, 감독들과 건축하는 사람들에게 맡겼습니다." 이렇게 보고하고 나서,	And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the Lord, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
18	사반 서기관은, 힐기야 제사장이 자기에게 책 한 권을 건네 주었다고 왕에게 보고했다. 그리고 사반은 그 책을 왕 앞에서 큰소리로 읽었다.	Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
19	왕은 율법의 말씀을 다 듣고는, 애통해 하며 자기의 옷을 찢었다.	And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
20	왕은 힐기야와 사반의 아들 아히감과 미가의 아들 압돈과 사반 서기관과 왕의 시종 아사야에게 명령하였다.	And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king’s, saying,
21	"그대들은 주께로 나아가서, 나를 대신하여, 그리고 아직 이스라엘과 유다에 살아 남아 있는 백성을 대신하여, 이번에 발견된 이 두루마리의 말씀에 관하여 주의 뜻을 여쭈어 보도록 하시오. 우리의 조상이 주의 말씀을 지키지 않고, 이 두루마리에 기록된 모든 것을 지켜 따르지 않았으므로, 주께서 우리에게 쏟으신 진노가 크오."	Go, enquire of the Lord for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the Lord that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do after all that is written in this book.
22	힐기야가 왕의 명령을 받은 사람들과 함께 훌다 예언자에게로 갔다. 그는 살룸의 아내였다. 살룸은 하스라의 손자요 독핫의 아들로서, 궁중 예복을 관리하는 사람이었다. 훌다는 예루살렘의 제 이 구역에 살고 있었는데, 그들이 그에게 가서 왕의 말을 전하니,	And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that effect.
23	훌다가 그들에게 말하였다. "주 이스라엘의 하나님께서 이렇게 말씀하시니, 그대들을 나에게 보내어 주의 뜻을 물어 보라고 한 그분에게 가서 전하시오.	And she answered them, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,
24	'나 주가 이렇게 말한다. 유다 왕 앞에서 낭독한 책에 기록된 모든 저주대로, 내가 이 곳과 여기에 사는 주민에게 재앙을 내리겠다.	Thus saith the Lord, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
25	그들이 나를 버리고 다른 신들에게 분향하여, 그들이 한 모든 일이 나를 노엽게 하였기 때문이다. 그러므로 내 분노를 여기에다 쏟을 것이니, 아무도 끄지 못할 것이다' 하셨소.	Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
26	주의 뜻을 주께 여쭈어 보려고 그대들을 나에게로 보낸 유다 왕에게는 이렇게 전하시오. '주 이스라엘의 하나님이 이렇게 말한다. 네가 들은 말씀을 설명하겠다.	And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the Lord, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard;
27	내가 이 곳과 이 곳에 사는 주민을 두고 말한 것을 네가 듣고, 마음에 느낀 바 있어서, 하나님 앞, 곧 내 앞에서 겸손해져서, 네가 옷을 찢으며 통곡하였으므로, 내가 네 기도를 들어주었다. 나 주가 말한다.	Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the Lord.
28	그러므로 이 곳과 이 곳 주민에게 내리기로 한 모든 재앙을, 네가 죽을 때까지는 내리지 않겠다. 내가 너를 네 조상에게로 보낼 때에는, 네가 평안히 무덤에 안장되게 하겠다' 하셨습니다."그들이 돌아와서, 이 말을 왕에게 전하였다.	Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
29	요시야가 주께 순종하기로 하다(왕하 23:1-20) 왕이 사람을 보내어 유다와 예루살렘의 모든 장로를 불러모았다.	Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
30	왕은 주의 성전에 올라갈 때에, 유다의 모든 백성과 예루살렘 주민과 제사장들과 레위 사람들과, 어른으로부터 아이에 이르기까지, 모든 백성을 다 데리고 주의 성전으로 올라갔다. 그 때에 왕은 주의 성전에서 발견된 언약책에 적힌 모든 말씀을 사람들에게 크게 읽어 들려 주도록 하였다.	And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the Lord.
31	왕은 자기의 자리에 서서, 주님을 따를 것과, 마음과 목숨을 다 바쳐 그의 계명과 법도와 규례를 지킬 것과, 이 책에 적힌 언약의 말씀을 지킬 것을 맹세하는 언약을, 주 앞에서 맺었다.	And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
32	왕이 거기에 있는 예루살렘과 베냐민 사람들도 이 언약에 참여하게 하니, 예루살렘 주민이 하나님, 곧 조상의 하나님이 세우신 언약을 따랐다.	And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
33	이와 같이 요시야는 이스라엘 자손에게 속한 모든 땅에서 혐오스러운 것들을 다 없애 버리고, 이스라엘의 모든 사람으로 주 하나님을 섬기게 하였으므로, 요시야가 살아 있는 동안에는 백성이 주 조상의 하나님께 복종하고 떠나지 않았다.	And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the Lord their God. And all his days they departed not from following the Lord, the God of their fathers.
