1	솔로몬 왕이 지혜를 구하다(왕상 3:1-15) 다윗의 아들 솔로몬은, 자기의 왕위를 튼튼히 굳혔다. 주 하나님께서 그와 함께 계시며, 그를 크게 높여 주셨다.	And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.
2	솔로몬은 온 이스라엘, 곧 천부장과 백부장과 재판관들과 온 이스라엘의 지도자들과 각 가문의 족장들을 불렀다.	Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.
3	솔로몬은 온 회중을 데리고 기브온에 있는 산당으로 갔는데, 거기에는 하나님의 회막, 곧 주의 종 모세가 광야에서 만든 회막이 있었다.	So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.
4	그러나 하나님의 궤는, 다윗이 일찍이 예루살렘에 궤를 모실 장막을 치고, 기럇여아림에서 그리로 올려다 두었다.	But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath–jearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.
5	다만 훌의 손자요 우리의 아들인 브살렐이 만든 놋제단은, 기브온에 있는 주의 성막 앞에 있었다. 그래서 솔로몬은 회중과 함께 그리로 나아간 것이다.	Moreover the brasen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the Lord: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.
6	솔로몬은 거기 주님 앞, 곧 회막 앞에 있는 놋제단으로 올라가, 번제물 천 마리를 바쳤다.	And Solomon went up thither to the brasen altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.
7	그 날 밤 하나님께서 솔로몬에게 나타나셔서 "내가 너에게 무엇을 주기를 바라느냐? 나에게 구하여라" 하고 말씀하셨다.	In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8	솔로몬이 하나님께 여쭈었다. "주께서 나의 아버지 다윗에게 큰 은혜를 베푸셨고, 또한 나로 하여금 아버지의 뒤를 이어 왕이 되게 하셨습니다.	And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9	주 하나님, 이제 나의 아버지 다윗에게 하신 말씀을 그대로 이루어 주십시오. 주께서 나를 땅의 티끌 같이 많은 백성의 왕으로 삼으셨으니,	Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10	이제 지혜와 지식을 나에게 주셔서, 이 백성을 인도하게 하여 주십시오. 이렇게 많은 주의 백성을 누가 다스릴 수 있겠습니까?"	Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
11	하나님께서 솔로몬에게 말씀하셨다. "너의 소원이 그것이구나. 부와 재물과 영화를 달라고 하지 않고, 너를 미워하는 자들의 목숨을 달라고 하지도 않고, 오래 살도록 해 달라고 하지도 않고, 오직 내가 너를 왕으로 삼아 맡긴 내 백성을 다스릴, 지혜와 지식을 달라고 하니,	And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:
12	내가 지혜와 지식을 너에게 줄 뿐만 아니라, 부와 재물과 영화도 주겠다. 이런 왕은 네 앞에도 없었고, 네 뒤에도 다시 없을 것이다."	Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honour, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.
13	솔로몬의 부귀영화(왕상 10:26-29) 그런 다음에, 솔로몬은 기브온 산당에 있는 회막에서 떠나, 예루살렘으로 돌아와서, 이스라엘을 다스렸다.	Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.
14	솔로몬이 병거와 기병을 모으니, 병거가 천사백 대, 기병이 만 이천 명에 이르렀다. 솔로몬은 그들을 병거 주둔성과 왕이 있는 예루살렘에다가 나누어 배치하였다.	And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
15	왕의 덕분에 예루살렘에는 은과 금이 돌처럼 흔하였고, 백향목은 세펠라 평원 지대의 뽕나무만큼이나 많았다.	And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the vale for abundance.
16	솔로몬은 말들을 이집트와 구에에서 수입하였는데, 왕실 무역상들을 시켜 구에에서 사들였다.	And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
17	병거도 이집트에서 사들였는데, 값은 병거 한 대에 은 육백 세겔이고, 말 한 필에 백오십 세겔이었다. 그렇게 들여와서, 그것을 헷 족의 모든 왕과 시리아 왕들에게 되팔기도 하였다.	And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.
