1	아사의 개혁 하나님의 영이 오뎃의 아들 아사랴에게 내리니,	And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
2	그가 아사 앞에 나아가서 다음과 같이 말하였다. "아사 임금님과 온 유다와 베냐민은, 내가 하는 말을 들으시오. 당신들이 주를 떠나지 않는 한, 주께서도 당신들을 떠나지 않으실 것이오. 당신들이 그를 찾으면, 그가 만나 주실 것이오. 그러나 당신들이 그를 버리면, 그도 당신들을 버리실 것이오.	And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
3	이스라엘은 오랫동안 참 하나님이 없이 지내 왔소. 가르치는 제사장도 없었고 율법도 없었소.	Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
4	그러나 이스라엘이 어려운 일을 만나서, 주 이스라엘의 하나님께 돌아와 그를 찾으면, 그는 그들을 만나 주셨소.	But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
5	그 때에는 세상이 하도 어지러워서, 땅 위에 사는 모든 백성이 마음 놓고 평안히 나들이도 못하였소.	And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
6	나라와 나라가, 성읍과 성읍이 서로 치고 무찌르는 판이었소. 이것은 하나님께서 사람들이 온갖 고난 속에서 고통을 받도록 버려 두셨기 때문이었소.	And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.
7	그러나 당신들은 기운을 내시오. 낙심하지 마시오. 당신들이 하는 수고에는 상급이 따를 것이오."	Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
8	아사는 이 모든 말, 곧 오뎃의 아들 아사랴 예언자가 전하여 주는 예언을 듣고, 용기를 내어, 유다와 베냐민 온 지방과 에브라임 산간지역의 점령지역 성읍에서 역겨운 물건들을 없애 버렸다. 그는 또 주의 성전 현관 앞에 있는 주의 제단을 보수하였다.	And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.
9	그는 또 유다와 베냐민의 모든 백성을 불러모으고, 그들에게로 와서 함께 살고 있는, 에브라임과 므낫세와 시므온 지파 소속의 백성도 모두 불러모았다. 주 하나님께서 아사와 함께 계시는 것을 보고, 이스라엘에서도 많은 사람들이 아사에게로 모여들었다.	And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.
10	그들이 예루살렘에 모인 것은 아사 왕 십오년이 되던 해 세 번째 달이었다.	So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
11	그 날 그들은 그들이 가져 온 전리품 가운데서 소 칠백 마리와 양 칠천 마리를 주께 희생제물로 잡아 바치며,	And they offered unto the Lord the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
12	마음을 다하고 정성을 다하여 주 조상의 하나님만을 찾기로 하는 언약을 맺었다.	And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
13	주 이스라엘의 하나님을 찾지 아니하는 자는, 젊은 사람이든지 나이 많은 사람이든지, 남자든지 여자든지 가릴 것 없이, 누구든지 다 죽이기로 하였다.	That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
14	사람들은 함성과 쇠나팔 소리와 뿔나팔 소리가 울려 퍼지는 가운데, 주께 큰소리로 맹세하였다.	And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
15	온 유다 백성은 이러한 맹세를 하는 것이 기쁘기만 하였다. 그들은 마음을 다해 맹세하고, 정성을 다해 주를 찾았으므로, 주께서 그들을 만나 주셨고, 사방으로 그들에게 평안을 주셨다.	And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.
16	아사 왕은 자기의 할머니 마아가가 혐오스러운 아세라 목상을 만들었다고 해서, 태후의 자리에서 물러나게 하였다. 아사는 자기의 할머니가 만든 혐오스러운 우상을 토막내어 가루로 만들어서, 기드론 냇가에서 불살라 버렸다.	And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
17	그렇다고 산당이 모두 제거된 것은 아니었지만, 주를 사모하는 아사의 마음은 평생 한결같았다.	But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
18	아사는 자기의 아버지와 자신이 거룩하게 구별하여 바친, 은과 금과 그릇들을 하나님의 성전에 들여놓았다.	And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
19	이 때부터 아사 왕 삼십오년까지 전쟁이 없었다.	And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
