1	요단 강 서쪽 지역의 분할 이스라엘 자손이 가나안 땅에서 받은 유산을, 제사장 엘르아살과 눈의 아들 여호수아와 이스라엘 자손의 각 지파 우두머리들이 다음과 같이 분배하였다.	And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.
2	주께서 모세에게 명령하신 대로, 그들은 제비를 뽑아, 아홉 지파와 둘로 나뉜 한 지파의 반쪽에게 땅을 유산으로 나누어 주었다.	By lot was their inheritance, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.
3	모세가 이미 요단 강 동쪽에서, 두 지파와 둘로 나뉜 한 지파의 반쪽에게 땅을 유산으로 주었으나, 레위 지파에게는 분깃을 주지 않았다.	For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
4	요셉 지파는 므낫세와 에브라임 두 지파로 갈리었다. 레위 지파에게는 거주할 여러 성읍과, 그들의 가축과 가축을 기를 목장 외에는 분깃을 주지 않았다.	For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
5	이스라엘 자손은, 주께서 모세에게 명하신 대로, 그 땅을 나누었다.	As the Lord commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
6	갈렙이 헤브론을 차지하다 유다 자손이 길갈에 있는 여호수아에게 다가왔을 때에, 그니스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙이 여호수아에게 말하였다. "당신은, 주께서 나와 당신에 대하여 가데스바네아에서 하나님의 사람 모세에게 하신 말씀을 알고 계십니다.	Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the Lord said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadesh–barnea.
7	내가 마흔 살이 되었을 때에, 주의 종 모세가 가데스바네아에서 나를 보내어, 그 땅을 정탐하게 하였습니다. 나는 돌아와서, 내가 확신하는 바를 그에게 보고하였습니다.	Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh–barnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
8	나와 함께 올라갔던 나의 형제들은 백성을 낙심시켰지만, 나는 주 나의 하나님을 충성스럽게 따랐습니다.	Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the Lord my God.
9	그래서 모세는 그 날 '네가 주 나의 하나님께 충성하였으므로, 너의 발로 밟은 땅이 영원히 너와 네 자손의 유산이 될 것이다' 하고 맹세하였습니다.	And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.
10	이제 보십시오, 주께서 모세에게 이 일을 말씀하신 때로부터 이스라엘 백성이 광야에서 생활하며 마흔다섯 해를 지내는 동안, 주께서는 약속하신 대로 나를 살아 남게 하셨습니다. 보십시오, 이제 나는 여든다섯 살이 되었습니다.	And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11	모세가 나를 정탐꾼으로 보낼 때와 같이, 나는 오늘도 여전히 건강하며, 그 때와 마찬가지로 지금도 힘이 넘쳐서, 전쟁하러 나가는 데나 출입하는 데에, 아무런 불편이 없습니다.	As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12	이제 주께서 그 날 약속하신 이 산간지방을 나에게 주십시오. 그 때에 당신이 들은 대로, 과연 거기에는 아낙 사람이 있고, 그 성읍은 크고 견고합니다. 그러나 주께서 나와 함께 하시기만 한다면, 주께서 말씀하신 대로, 나는 그들을 쫓아낼 수 있습니다."	Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said.
13	여호수아가 여분네의 아들 갈렙을 축복하고, 헤브론을 유산으로 그에게 주었다.	And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14	그래서 헤브론은 그니스 사람 여분네의 아들 갈렙의 유산이 되어 오늘날까지 이른다. 그것은 그가 주 이스라엘의 하나님을 충성스럽게 따랐기 때문이다.	Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.
15	헤브론의 옛 이름은 기럇아르바였는데, 아르바는 아낙 사람 가운데서 가장 위대한 인물이었다.드디어 그 땅에 평화가 깃들었다.	And the name of Hebron before was Kirjath–arba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
