1	하나가 되는 진리 그러므로 주님의 일로 갇힌 몸이 된 내가 여러분에게 권합니다. 하나님께서 여러분을 불러 주셨으니, 그 불러 주신 뜻에 합당하게 살아가십시오.	I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2	언제나 겸손함과 온유함을 지니십시오. 사랑으로 서로 용납하면서, 오래 참으십시오.	With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3	여러분은, 성령이 여러분을 평화의 띠로 묶어서 하나가 되게 해주신 것을, 힘써 지키십시오.	Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
4	여러분이 부르심을 받았을 때에 한 희망으로 부르심을 받은 것과 같이, 몸도 하나요, 성령도 하나요,	There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5	주님도 하나요, 믿음도 하나요, 세례도 하나요,	One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6	하나님도 한 분이십니다. 그분은 만유의 아버지이시며, 만유 위에 계시고, 만유를 통하여 일하시고, 만유 안에 계십니다.	One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
7	그러나 하나님께서는 우리 각 사람에게, 그리스도께서 나누어 주시는 선물의 분량을 따라 은혜를 주셨습니다.	But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8	그러므로 성경에 이르기를 "그분은 높은 곳으로 올라가셔서, 포로를 사로잡으시고, 사람들에게 선물을 나누어 주셨다" 합니다.	Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9	(그런데 '그가 올라가셨다'는 것은, 그분이 땅의 낮은 곳으로 내려오셨었다는 것이 아니고 무엇이겠습니까?	(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10	내려오셨던 그분이, 만물을 충만하게 하시려고 하늘의 가장 높은 데로 올라가신 바로 그분이십니다.)	He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11	그분이, 어떤 사람은 사도로, 어떤 사람은 예언자로, 어떤 사람은 복음 전도자로, 또 어떤 사람은 목회자와 교사로 삼으셨습니다.	And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12	그것은 성도들을 준비시켜, 봉사의 일을 하게 하고, 그리스도의 몸을 세우게 하시려는 것입니다.	For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13	그리하여 우리 모두가, 하나님의 아들을 믿는 일과 아는 일에 하나가 되고, 온전한 사람이 되어, 그리스도의 충만하심의 경지에까지 이르게 됩니다.	Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14	우리는 이 이상 더 어린 아이로 있어서는 안 됩니다. 우리는 인간의 속임수나 간교한 술수에 빠져서, 온갖 교훈의 풍조에 흔들리거나 이리저리 밀려다니거나 하지 말아야 합니다.	That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15	우리는 사랑 안에서 진리를 말하면서, 모든 면에서 자라나서, 머리이신 그리스도에게까지 이르러야 합니다.	But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16	그리스도가 머리이시므로, 온몸은 여러 부분이 결합되고 서로 연결되어서, 각 부분이 그 맡은 분량대로 활동함을 따라 각 마디로 영양을 공급받고, 그 몸을 자라게 하여, 사랑 안에서 스스로를 세우게 합니다.	From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
17	옛 사람과 새 사람 그러므로 나는 주님 안에서 간곡히 권면합니다. 이제부터 여러분은 이방 사람들이 허망한 생각으로 살아가는 것과 같이 살아가지 마십시오.	This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18	그들은 그들 속에 있는 무지와 그들의 마음의 완고함 때문에 지각이 어두워지고, 하나님의 생명에서 떠나 있습니다.	Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19	그들은 수치의 감각을 잃고, 스스로를 방탕에 내맡겨서, 탐욕을 부리면서 모든 더러운 일을 합니다.	Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20	그러나 여러분은 그리스도를 그렇게 배우지는 않았습니다.	But ye have not so learned Christ;
21	여러분이 예수 안에 있는 진리대로 그분에게서 듣고, 또 예수 안에서 가르침을 받았으면,	If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22	여러분은, 지난날의 생활방식에 얽매여서 허망한 욕정을 따라 살다가 썩어 없어질 옛 사람을 벗어버리고,	That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23	마음의 영을 새롭게 하여,	And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24	하나님을 따라 참된 의로움과 거룩함으로 지으심을 받은 새 사람을 입으십시오.	And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
25	새로운 생활의 규범 그러므로 여러분은 거짓을 버리고, 각각 자기 이웃과 더불어 참된 말을 하십시오. 그것은 우리가 서로 한 몸의 지체들이기 때문입니다.	Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
26	화를 내더라도 죄는 짓지 마십시오. 해가 지도록 노여움을 품고 있지 마십시오.	Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
27	악마에게 틈을 주지 마십시오.	Neither give place to the devil.
28	도둑질을 하는 사람은 다시는 도둑질을 하지 말고, 수고를 하여, 제 손으로 떳떳하게 벌이를 하십시오. 그리하여 오히려 궁핍한 사람들에게 나누어 줄 것이 있도록 하십시오.	Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
29	나쁜 말은 입 밖에 내지 말고, 덕을 세우는 데에 필요한 말이 있으면 적절한 때에 해서, 듣는 사람에게 은혜를 끼치게 하십시오.	Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
30	하나님의 성령을 슬프게 하지 마십시오. 성령 안에서 여러분은 구속의 날을 대비해서 인치심을 받았습니다.	And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
31	모든 악독과 격정과 분노와 소란과 욕설은, 모든 악의와 함께 내버리십시오.	Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
32	서로 친절히 하며, 불쌍히 여기며, 하나님께서 그리스도 안에서 여러분을 용서하신 것같이, 서로 용서하십시오.	And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
