1	다윗 왕국의 성립과 그 판도(대상 18:1-17) 그 뒤에 다윗이 블레셋 사람을 쳐서, 그들을 굴복시키고, 블레셋 사람의 손에서 메덱암마를 빼앗았다.	And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Metheg–ammah out of the hand of the Philistines.
2	그는 또 모압을 쳤다. 그는 모압 사람을 다 땅바닥에 눕혀 놓고, 줄로 잰 다음에, 두 줄 길이 안에 든 사람들은 죽이고, 한 줄 길이 안에 든 사람들은 살려 주었다. 모압 사람들은 다윗의 종이 되어 그에게, 조공을 바쳤다.	And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts.
3	르홉의 아들, 소바 왕 하닷에셀이 유프라테스 강 유역에서 자기 세력을 되찾으려고 출정하였을 때에, 다윗이 그를 치고,	David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.
4	그에게서 기마병 천칠백 명과 보병 이만 명을 포로로 사로잡았다. 다윗은 또 병거를 끄는 말 가운데서도 백 필만 남겨 놓고, 나머지는 모조리 다리의 힘줄을 끊어 버렸다.	And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.
5	다마스쿠스의 시리아 사람들이 소바 왕 하닷에셀을 도우려고 군대를 보내자, 다윗은 시리아 사람 이만 이천 명을 쳐죽이고,	And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
6	시리아의 다마스쿠스에 주둔군을 두니, 시리아도 다윗의 종이 되어 그에게 조공을 바쳤다. 다윗이 어느 곳으로 출전하든지, 주께서 그에게 승리를 안겨 주셨다.	Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
7	그 때에 다윗은 하닷에셀의 신하들이 가지고 있는 금방패를 다 빼앗아서, 예루살렘으로 가져 왔다.	And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8	또 다윗 왕은, 하닷에셀의 두 성읍 베다와 베로대에서는, 놋쇠를 아주 많이 빼앗아 왔다.	And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.
9	하맛 왕 도이는, 다윗이 하닷에셀의 온 군대를 쳐서 이겼다는 소식을 들었다.	When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,
10	그는 자기의 아들 요람을 다윗 왕에게로 보내서 문안하게 하고, 다윗이 하닷에셀과 싸워서 이긴 것을 축하하게 하였다. 하닷에셀은 도이와 서로 싸우는 사이였다. 요람은 은과 금과 놋으로 만든 물건을 많이 가지고 다윗에게로 왔다.	Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:
11	다윗 왕은 이것들도 따로 구별하여서, 이미 정복한 모든 민족에게서 가져온 것에서 따로 구별하여 둔 은금과 함께 주께 바쳤는데,	Which also king David did dedicate unto the Lord, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;
12	그것들은, 그가 에돔과 모압과 암몬 사람들과 블레셋 사람들과 아말렉에게서 가져온 은금과, 르홉의 아들인 소바 왕 하닷에셀에게서 빼앗아 온 물건 가운데서, 따로 떼어놓은 은과 금이었다.	Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.
13	다윗은 돌아오는 길에 '소금 골짜기'에서 에돔 사람 만 팔천 명을 쳐죽이고, 이름을 떨쳤다.	And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.
14	그 때에 다윗이 에돔에 주둔군을 두기 시작하여서, 온 에돔에 주둔군을 두니, 마침내 온 에돔 사람이 다윗의 종이 되었다. 다윗이 어느 곳으로 출전하든지, 주께서 그에게 승리를 안겨 주셨다.	And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David whithersoever he went.
15	다윗이 왕이 되어서 이렇게 온 이스라엘을 다스릴 때에, 그는 언제나 자기의 백성 모두를 공평하고 의로운 법으로 다스렸다.	And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.
16	스루야의 아들 요압은 군사령관이 되고, 아힐룻의 아들 여호사밧은 역사 기록관이 되고,	And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;
17	아히둡의 아들 사독과 아비아달의 아들 아히멜렉은 제사장이 되고, 스라야는 서기관이 되고,	And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;
18	여호야다의 아들 브나야는 그렛 사람과 블렛 사람의 지휘관이 되었다. 다윗의 아들들은 제사장 일을 보았다.	And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief rulers.
