1	일곱 일꾼을 뽑다 이 시기에 제자들이 점점 불어났다. 그런데 그리스 말을 하는 유대 사람들이 히브리 말을 하는 유대 사람들에게 불평을 터뜨렸다. 그것은, 매일 구제하는 일에 있어서 자기네 과부들이 소홀히 여김을 받았기 때문이었다.	And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2	그래서 열두 사도가 제자들을 모두 불러 놓고 말하였다. "우리가 하나님의 말씀을 전하는 일은 제쳐놓고서, 음식 베푸는 일에 힘쓰는 것은 좋지 못합니다.	Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3	그러니 형제자매 여러분, 신망이 있고 성령과 지혜가 충만한 사람 일곱을 여러분 가운데서 뽑으십시오. 그러면 그들에게 이 일을 맡기고,	Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4	우리는 기도하는 일과 말씀을 섬기는 일에 헌신하겠습니다."	But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
5	모든 사람이 이 말을 좋게 받아들여서, 믿음과 성령이 충만한 사람인 스데반과 빌립과 브로고로와 니가노르와 디몬과 바메나와, 안디옥 출신의 이방 사람으로서 유대교에 개종한 사람인 니골라를 뽑아서,	And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:
6	사도들 앞에 세웠다. 사도들은 기도하고, 그들에게 안수하였다.	Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7	하나님의 말씀이 계속 퍼져 나가서, 예루살렘에 있는 제자들의 수가 부쩍 늘어가고, 제사장들 가운데서도 이 믿음을 받아들이는 사람들이 많았다.	And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8	스데반이 체포당하다 스데반은 은혜와 권능이 충만해서, 백성 가운데서 놀라운 일과 큰 기적을 행하였다.	And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.
9	그 때에 구레네 사람과 알렉산드리아 사람과 길리기아와 아시아에서 온 사람으로 구성된, 이른바 리버디노 회당에 소속된 사람들 가운데 몇이 들고일어나서, 스데반과 논쟁을 벌였다.	Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.
10	그러나 스데반이 지혜와 성령으로 말하므로, 그들은 스데반을 당해 낼 수 없었다.	And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
11	그러므로 그들은 사람들을 선동하여 "스데반이 모세와 하나님을 모독하는 말을 하는 것을 우리가 들었다" 하고 말하게 하였다.	Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.
12	그리고 백성과 장로들과 율법학자들을 부추겨 스데반에게로 몰려가서, 그를 붙잡아 의회로 끌어 오게 하였다.	And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,
13	그리고 거짓 증인들을 세워서, 이렇게 말하게 하였다. "이 사람은 쉴 새 없이 이 거룩한 곳과 율법을 거슬러 말합니다.	And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:
14	이 사람이, 나사렛 예수가 이 곳을 헐고 또 모세가 우리에게 전하여 준 규례를 뜯어 고칠 것이라고 말하는 것을, 우리가 들었습니다."	For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
15	의회에 앉아 있는 사람들이 모두 스데반을 주목하여 보니, 그 얼굴이 천사의 얼굴처럼 보였다.	And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
