1	고라와 다단과 아비람의 반역 이스할의 아들 고라가 반기를 들었다. 그는 고핫의 손자이며 레위의 증손이다. 엘리압의 아들인 다단과 아비람, 그리고 르우벤의 손자이며 벨렛의 아들인 온도 고라와 합세하였다.	Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men:
2	그들이 모세를 거역하여 일어서니, 이스라엘 자손 가운데서 이백오십 명의 남자들이 합세하였는데, 그들은 회중의 대표들로 총회에서 뽑힌 이들이었으며, 잘 알려진 사람들이었다.	And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown:
3	그들이 모세와 아론에게 대항하여 모여서 항의하였다. "당신들은 분에 넘치는 일을 하고 있소. 온 회중 각자가 다 거룩하고, 그들 가운데 주께서 계시는데, 어찌하여 당신들은 주의 회중 위에 군림하려 하오?"	And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the Lord?
4	모세가 이 말을 듣고 땅에 엎드려 기도하고 나서,	And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face:
5	고라와 고라가 데리고 있는 모든 사람에게 이렇게 말하였다. "내일 아침에 주께서는, 누가 하나님께 속한 사람이며, 누가 거룩하며, 누가 그에게 가까이 나아갈 수 있는지를 알려 주실 것이다. 주께서는 친히 택하신 그 사람만을 주께 가까이 나오게 하실 것이다.	And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the Lord will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him.
6	이렇게 하여라. 너희들, 고라와 고라가 데리고 있는 모든 무리는 향로를 가지고 나오너라.	This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company;
7	내일 주 앞에서 그 향로에 불을 담고, 거기다가 향을 피우도록 하여라. 그 때에 주께서 한 사람을 택하실 것이다. 그가 바로 거룩한 사람이다. 레위의 자손이라고 하는 너희야말로 분에 넘치는 일을 하고 있다."	And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the Lord to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the Lord doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.
8	모세가 고라에게 말하였다. "너희 레위의 자손은 들어라.	And Moses said unto Korah, Hear, I pray you, ye sons of Levi:
9	이스라엘의 하나님이 너희를 이스라엘 회중 가운데서 구별하셔서, 주께로 가까이 나오게 하셨다. 그리고 주의 성막 일을 하게 하셨다. 그뿐만 아니라, 너희를 회중 앞에 세워, 그들을 돌보게 하셨다. 그런데 이것이 너희에게 부족하단 말이냐?	Seemeth it but a small thing unto you, that the God of Israel hath separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to himself to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to minister unto them?
10	주께서는 너의 모든 동료 레위의 자손을 너와 함께 주께로 가까이 불러 내셨다. 그런데 이제 너희는 제사장직까지도 요구하고 있다.	And he hath brought thee near to him, and all thy brethren the sons of Levi with thee: and seek ye the priesthood also?
11	그러므로 너와 너의 무리가 결속한 것은, 주를 거역하는 짓이다. 아론이 어떤 사람인데, 감히 그를 거역하여 불평을 한단 말이냐?"	For which cause both thou and all thy company are gathered together against the Lord: and what is Aaron, that ye murmur against him?
12	모세는 또 사람을 시켜, 엘리압의 아들 다단과 아비람을 불렀다. 그러나 그들은 이렇게 말하였다. "우리는 가지 않겠소!	And Moses sent to call Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
13	우리를 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅에서 이끌어 내어, 이 광야에서 죽이는 것으로도 부족하단 말이오? 이제 당신은 우리 위에 군주처럼 군림하기까지 할 셈이오?	Is it a small thing that thou hast brought us up out of a land that floweth with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, except thou make thyself altogether a prince over us?
14	더욱이 당신은 우리를, 젖과 꿀이 흐르는 땅으로 인도하지도 못했소. 밭과 포도원도 우리에게 유산으로 주지 못하였소. 당신은 이 사람들의 눈을 뺄 작정이오? 우리는 못 가오."	Moreover thou hast not brought us into a land that floweth with milk and honey, or given us inheritance of fields and vineyards: wilt thou put out the eyes of these men? we will not come up.
15	모세는 몹시 화가 나서 주께 아뢰었다. "저 사람들이 바치는 제물은 바라보지도 마십시오. 저는 저 사람들에게서 나귀 한 마리도 빼앗은 일이 없습니다. 저들 가운데 어느 한 사람에게도 잘못한 일이 없습니다."	And Moses was very wroth, and said unto the Lord, Respect not thou their offering: I have not taken one ass from them, neither have I hurt one of them.
16	모세가 고라에게 말하였다. "너와 너의 모든 무리는 내일 주 앞에 나오너라. 너와 그들과 아론이 함께 설 것이다.	And Moses said unto Korah, Be thou and all thy company before the Lord, thou, and they, and Aaron, to morrow:
17	각자 자기의 향로를 들고, 그 안에 향을 담아가지고, 주 앞으로 나와야 한다. 각자가 향로를 가지고 오면, 향로는 모두 이백오십 개가 될 것이다. 너와 아론도 각자 향로를 가져 와야 한다."	And take every man his censer, and put incense in them, and bring ye before the Lord every man his censer, two hundred and fifty censers; thou also, and Aaron, each of you his censer.
18	그래서 각자 자기의 향로를 가지고 와서, 거기에 불을 피우고, 그 안에 향을 넣어서, 회막 어귀에 섰다. 모세와 아론도 함께 있었다.	And they took every man his censer, and put fire in them, and laid incense thereon, and stood in the door of the tabernacle of the congregation with Moses and Aaron.
19	고라는 온 회중을 모두 회막 어귀에 모아 두 사람과 대결하게 하였다.갑자기 주의 영광이 온 회중에게 나타났다.	And Korah gathered all the congregation against them unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto all the congregation.
20	주께서 모세와 아론에게 다음과 같이 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,
21	"너희는 이 회중에게서 따로 떨어져라. 내가 그들을 순식간에 없애 버리겠다."	Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment.
22	그러나 모세와 아론이 땅에 엎드려 부르짖었다. "하나님, 모든 육체에 숨을 불어넣어 주시는 하나님, 죄는 한 사람이 지었는데, 어찌 온 회중에게 진노하십니까?"	And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?
23	주께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
24	"너는 회중에게 고라와 다단과 아비람의 거처 가까이에서 떠나라고 하여라."	Speak unto the congregation, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.
25	모세가 일어나 다단과 아비람에게로 가니, 이스라엘 장로들도 그를 따랐다.	And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.
26	그는 회중에게 경고하였다. "너희는 이 악한 사람들의 장막에서 물러서거라! 그들에게 딸린 어느 것 하나도 건드리지 말아라. 건드렸다가는, 그들의 죄에 휘말려 함께 망할 것이다."	And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.
27	그러자 회중은 고라와 다단과 아비람의 거처 주변에서 물러섰다.다단과 아비람은 밖으로 나와서, 그들의 장막 어귀에 섰다. 그들의 아내와 아이들과 어린 것들도 함께 섰다.	So they gat up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.
28	그 때에 모세가 말하였다. "너희는 이제 곧 이 모든 일이 내 뜻대로 된 것이 아니라, 이 모든 일을 하도록 주께서 나를 보내셔서 된 일임을 알게 될 것이다.	And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the Lord hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
29	이 사람들이 보통 사람이 죽는 것과 같이 죽는다면, 곧 모든 사람이 겪는 것과 같은 죽음으로 죽는다면, 주께서 나를 보내신 것이 아니다.	If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the Lord hath not sent me.
30	그러나 주께서, 너희가 듣도 보도 못한 일을 일으켜서, 땅이 그 입을 벌려, 그들과 그들에게 딸린 모든 것을 삼켜, 그들이 산 채로 스올로 내려가게 되면, 그 때에 너희는 이 사람들이 주를 업신여겨서 벌을 받았다는 것을 알게 될 것이다."	But if the Lord make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord.
31	그가 이 모든 말을 마치자마자, 그들이 딛고 선 땅바닥이 갈라지고,	And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them:
32	땅이 그 입을 벌려, 그들과 그들의 집안과 고라를 따르던 모든 사람과 그들의 모든 소유를 삼켜 버렸다.	And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods.
33	그리고 그들과 합세한 모든 사람도 산 채로 스올로 내려갔고, 땅은 그들을 덮어 버렸다. 그들은 이렇게 회중 가운데서 사라졌다.	They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.
34	그들의 아우성 소리에, 주변에 있던 모든 이스라엘 사람들은 "땅이 우리마저 삼키려 하는구나!" 하고 소리치며 달아났다.	And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.
35	주께로부터 불이 나와, 향을 바치던 이백오십 명을 살라 버렸다.	And there came out a fire from the Lord, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.
36	향로 주께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
37	"너는 제사장 아론의 아들 엘르아살에게 일러서, 불 탄 자리에서 향로들을 모으게 하고, 타다 남은 불은 다른 곳에 쏟게 하여라. 이 향로들은 아무나 만져서는 안 된다.	Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.
38	그 향로를 가지고 있던 사람들은 죄를 짓고 목숨을 잃었지만, 그 향로는 그들이 주 앞에 드렸던 것으로, 이미 거룩하게 된 것인 만큼, 향로를 망치로 두들겨 펴서 제단에 씌우도록 하여라. 이스라엘 자손에게 이것이 경고가 될 것이다."	The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the Lord, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
39	제사장 엘르아살이, 불에 타 죽은 사람들이 주께 드렸던 그 놋향로들을 거두어다가, 망치로 두들겨 펴서 제단 위에 씌웠다.	And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:
40	엘르아살은, 주께서 모세를 시켜 말씀하신 대로 다 하였다. 그가 이렇게 한 것은, 아론 자손이 아닌 다른 사람들은, 어느 누구도 절대로 주 앞에 가까이 가서 분향할 수 없다는 것과, 누구든지 그렇게 하였다가는 고라와 그와 합세하였던 사람들처럼 된다는 것을, 이스라엘 자손에게 상기시키려 한 것이다.	To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the Lord; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the Lord said to him by the hand of Moses.
41	아론이 백성을 구하다 이튿날, 이스라엘 자손의 온 회중이 모세와 아론에게 항거하면서 "당신들이 주의 백성을 죽였소" 하고 말하였다.	But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the Lord.
42	온 회중이 모세와 아론을 규탄할 때에, 모세와 아론이 회막 쪽을 바라보니, 회막에 갑자기 구름이 덮이고, 주의 영광이 거기에 나타났다.	And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the Lord appeared.
43	모세와 아론이 회막 앞으로 가니,	And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.
44	주께서 모세에게 말씀하셨다.	And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
45	"너희 두 사람은 이 회중에게서 떠나라. 그들을 내가 순식간에 없애 버리겠다." 이 말을 듣고, 두 사람이 땅에 엎드렸다.	Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.
46	모세가 아론에게 말하였다. "형님께서는, 향로에 제단 불을 담고, 그 위에 향을 피워, 빨리 회중에게로 가서, 속죄의 예식을 베푸십시오. 주께서 진노하셔서, 재앙이 시작되었습니다."	And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the Lord; the plague is begun.
47	아론이 모세의 말을 듣고, 향로를 가지고 회중에게로 달려갔다. 백성 사이에는 이미 염병이 번지고 있었다. 아론이 백성에게 속죄의 예식을 베풀었다.	And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.
48	아론이 살아 있는 사람과 죽은 사람 사이에 서니, 재앙이 그쳤다.	And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.
49	이 염병으로 죽은 사람이 만 사천칠백 명이나 되었다. 이것은 고라의 일로 죽은 사람 수는 뺀 것이다.	Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
50	재앙이 그치자, 아론은 회막 어귀에 있는모세에게로 돌아왔다.	And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.
