1	동방박사들이 아기에게 경배하러 오다 헤롯 왕 때에 예수께서 유대 베들레헴에서 나셨다. 그런데 동방으로부터 박사들이 예루살렘에 와서	Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2	말하기를 "유대인의 왕으로 나신 이가 어디에 계십니까? 우리가 동방에서 그의 별을 보고, 그에게 경배하러 왔습니다" 하였다.	Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
3	헤롯 왕은 이 말을 듣고 당황하였고, 온 예루살렘 사람들도 그와 함께 당황하였다.	When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4	왕은 백성의 대제사장들과 율법학자들을 다 모아 놓고서, 그리스도가 어디에서 태어나실지를 그들에게 물어 보았다.	And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
5	그들이 왕에게 말하였다. "유대 베들레헴입니다. 예언자가 이렇게 기록하여 놓았습니다.	And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6	'너 유대 땅에 있는 베들레헴아, 너는 유대 통치자들 가운데서 가장 작지 않다. 네게서 통치자가 나올 것이니, 그가 내 백성 이스라엘을 먹일 것이다.'"	And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7	그 때에 헤롯은 그 박사들을 가만히 불러서, 별이 나타난 때를 캐어 묻고,	Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8	그들을 베들레헴으로 보내며 말하기를 "가서, 그 아기에 대하여 자세히 알아 보고, 찾거든 내게 알려 주시오. 나도 가서, 그에게 경배할 생각이오" 하였다.	And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9	그들은 왕의 말을 듣고 떠났다. 그런데 마침 동방에서 본 그 별이 그들 앞에 나타나 그들을 인도해 가다가, 아기가 있는 곳에 이르러서, 그 위에 멈추었다.	When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10	그들은 그 별을 보고, 무척이나 크게 기뻐하였다.	When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11	그들은 그 집에 들어가서, 아기가 그의 어머니 마리아와 함께 있는 것을 보고, 엎드려서 그에게 경배하였다. 그리고 그들의 보물 상자를 열어서, 그에게 황금과 유향과 몰약을 예물로 드렸다.	And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
12	그리고 그들은 꿈에 헤롯에게 돌아가지 말라는 지시를 받아, 다른 길로 자기 나라에 돌아갔다.	And being warned of God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
13	예수의 가족이 이집트로 피신하다 박사들이 돌아간 뒤에, 주의 천사가 꿈에 요셉에게 나타나서 말하였다. "헤롯이 아기를 찾아서 죽이려고 하니, 일어나서, 아기와 어머니를 데리고, 이집트로 피신하고, 내가 네게 일러줄 때까지 그 곳에 있어라."	And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14	요셉이 일어나서, 밤 사이에 아기와 그 어머니를 데리고 이집트로 피신하여,	When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15	헤롯이 죽을 때까지 거기에 있었다. 이것은 주께서 예언자를 시켜서 말씀하신 바 "내가 이집트에서 내 아들을 불러냈다" 하신 말씀을 이루려고 하신 것이었다.	And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
16	헤롯이 어린 아이들을 죽이다 헤롯은 박사들에게 속은 것을 알고, 몹시 노하였다. 그는 사람을 보내어, 그 박사들에게 알아본 때를 기준으로, 베들레헴과 그 가까운 온 지역에 사는, 두 살짜리로부터 그 아래의 사내아이를 모조리 죽였다.	Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
17	이리하여 예언자 예레미야를 시켜서 하신 말씀이 이루어졌다.	Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
18	"라마에서 소리가 들려 왔다. 울부짖으며, 크게 애곡하는 소리다. 라헬이 자식들을 잃고 우는데, 자식들이 없어졌으므로, 위로를 받으려 하지 않았다."	In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
19	예수의 가족이 이집트에서 돌아오다 헤롯이 죽은 뒤에, 주의 천사가 이집트에 있는 요셉에게 꿈에 나타나서	But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20	말하기를 "일어나서, 아기와 어머니를 데리고, 이스라엘 땅으로 가거라. 그 아기의 목숨을 노리던 자들이 죽었다" 하였다.	Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life.
21	요셉이 일어나서, 아기와 어머니를 데리고, 이스라엘 땅으로 들어왔다.	And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22	그러나 요셉은, 아켈라오가 아버지 헤롯의 뒤를 이어 유대 지방의 왕이 되었다는 말을 듣고, 그 곳으로 가기를 두려워하였다. 그는 꿈에 지시를 받고, 갈릴리 지방으로 떠나서,	But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23	나사렛이라는 동네로 가서 살았다. 이리하여 예언자들을 시켜서 말씀하신 바 "그는 나사렛 사람이라고 불릴 것이다" 하신 말씀이 이루어졌다.	And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
