절	표준새번역 (1993)	King James Version
1	인사 하나님의 종이요 예수 그리스도의 사도인 나 바울은, 하나님께서 택하신 자들의 믿음을 일깨워 주고, 경건함 속에 든 진리의 지식을 깨우쳐 주려고, 사도가 되었습니다.	Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;
2	나는 영원한 생명에 소망을 두고 있습니다. 이 영원한 생명은, 거짓이 없으신 하나님께서 영원 전부터 약속하여 주신 것입니다.	In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
3	하나님께서는 당신이 약속하신 이 말씀을, 제때가 되었을 때에 선포 활동으로 드러내셨습니다. 나는 우리의 구주이신 하나님의 명령을 따라 선포의 임무를 맡았습니다.	But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
4	나는, 같은 믿음을 따라 진실한 아들이 된 디도에게 이 편지를 씁니다. 하나님 아버지와 우리 구주 예수 그리스도께서 내려 주시는 은혜와 평화가 그대에게 있기를 빕니다.	To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.
5	크레타에서 해야 할 디도의 사역 내가 그대를 크레타에 남겨 둔 것은, 남은 일들을 정리하게 하고, 내가 명령한 대로 성읍마다 장로들을 세우게 하려 함입니다.	For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
6	장로는 흠잡을 데가 없어야 하며, 한 아내의 남편이라야 하며, 그 자녀가 신자라야 하며, 방탕하다는 비난이나 순종하지 않는다는 비난을 받지 않아야 합니다.	If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7	사실 감독은 하나님의 청지기로서, 흠잡을 데가 없으며, 자기 고집대로 하지 않으며, 쉽게 성내지 않으며, 술을 즐기지 않으며, 폭행을 하지 않으며, 부정한 이득을 탐하지 않아야 합니다.	For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8	오히려 그는 손님을 잘 대접하며, 선행을 좋아하며, 신중하며, 의로우며, 경건하며, 자제력이 있으며,	But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9	신실한 말씀의 가르침을 굳게 지켜야 합니다. 이는, 그가 건전한 교훈으로 권면하고, 반대자들을 책망할 수 있게 하려 함입니다.	Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
10	복종하지 않으며 헛된 말을 하며 속이는 사람이 많이 있는데, 특히 할례받은 사람 가운데 많이 있습니다.	For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:
11	그들의 입을 막아야 합니다. 그들은 부정한 이득을 얻으려고, 가르쳐서는 안 되는 것을 가르치면서, 가정들을 온통 뒤엎습니다.	Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.
12	크레타 사람 가운데서, 그들의 예언자라는 어떤 사람이 말하기를 "크레타 사람은 예나 지금이나 거짓말쟁이요, 악한 짐승이요, 먹는 것 밖에 모르는 게으름뱅이다" 하였습니다.	One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.
13	이 증언은 참말입니다. 그러므로 그들을 엄중히 책망하여, 그들의 믿음을 건전하게 하고,	This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
14	유대 사람의 허탄한 이야기나, 진리를 배반하는 사람들의 명령에, 귀를 기울이지 못하게 하십시오.	Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.
15	깨끗한 사람들에게는, 모든 것이 깨끗합니다. 그러나 더럽고 믿지 않는 사람들에게는, 깨끗한 것이라고는 하나도 없습니다. 도리어 그들의 생각과 양심까지도 다 더러워졌습니다.	Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
16	그들은 입으로는 하나님을 안다고 말하지만, 행동으로는 부인하고 있습니다. 그들은 가증하고 완고해서, 전혀 선한 일을 하지 못합니다.	They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
